Well, he could say just that. Doesn’t seem like that would go over great.
Wait a damn minute, does he want to hook up with Cody? Is that what his brain implied? Cody?! His goth roommate. He wants to hook up with him? Pete’s absolutely fucked.

This is basically 8k words of smut with enough plot to give a reason for them to get it on. There are some discussions about gender dysphoria, potential kinks, and comfort levels. Pete has not had bottom surgery yet, but all of the words used to describe his body parts are masculine coded.
POV changes back and forth but stays in 3rd Person limited. It is made very obvious who it's centered on!

Exhaustion had never hit Ilya quite like this before. He always expected a mid-season slump; anyone would after months of grueling physical activity. But these last few years in Ottawa—they've drained Ilya.
Sure, they've started winning more. They aren't exactly scrapping the bottom of the barrel anymore, but playoff hopes were still a ways away. And, for Stanley Cup champion Ilya Rozanov who ate, slept, and breathed winning, it sort of felt like his soul was being slowly sucked out of his body.
It was all worth it to be closer to Shane. Of course it was. It was so, so worth it to see him and hold him more than four times during the season and in stolen moments during the summer that Ilya clung to like a lifeline. He would do it all over again and again and again, just to see Shane—his Shane—smile.
But he wishes it wasn't so fucking exhausting.

Holy fuck dude devastating
Mostly good ending but not complete resolutionFor some reason my comments are working, saving until later:
Finishing this fic is like suddenly surfacing from a pool gasping for air. Like waking up to the memory of drunk texting your ex and not being able to stop it. Like the way the world spins and feels fake after stepping out of a movie theater.
You’ve made Shanes thoughts and obsessive thought patterns so immersive I feel like I have dissolved into him. The way you’ve written his spirals feel just as encompassing as if I were spiraling myself.
Some of Shane’s thoughts and behavior patterns resonated a little too hard and that fact the people who love him are concerned for him is everything to me.
Some of it hits so close to home that it’s finally pushed me to start reading the books on self worth and codependency (focusing on a need for control) that my therapist has been trying to get me to read for months. -

Jane licks between her lips and swallows. Is she swaying towards Rozanova or is Rozanova getting imperceptively closer? Their chests are almost grazing; Jane’s in her loose shirt that barely hides the peaks of her nipples, her body betraying its interest, and Rozanova’s breasts exposed by the seemingly bottomless hemline of her dress.
Jane can’t stop staring. She’s staring still when she asks, “Do you want to… sit? Maybe?”
And then Rozanova is stepping forward, removing any distance they had between their bodies and forcing Jane back against the door. Jane is momentarily surprised by how well they fit together. Rozanova is taller, curvier and yet their bodies slot together perfectly. Softly.
It’s different than a man— Jane has tried and tried over the last year to make that work. But they are all hard, unyielding planes and Rozanova’s body is still strong, but her muscles ripple like a gentle current rather than a rough tide.
