Summary
When James Potter is hit with a spell which makes him lose his memory, everyone is understandably freaked out. Everyone except for James, of course, who is too busy trying to reassure his boyfriend that he hasn’t forgotten him and never will.
Except, James Potter is single, and Regulus Black has no idea why he seems to think otherwise.
[or, James is confused but still a sap, Regulus is flustered, and everyone else is just along for the ride.]

“Always, Little Star.”
“Ah. So mushy, James. I don’t recall you being this mushy. It’s making my teeth ache.”
James only shrugs and reaches out his unoccupied hand, rooting through the grass until he hits the bag and pulls out a plastic container with a purple lid, setting it on the ground next to them carefully.
“I’ve always been mushy for you, Reggie. Thought you knew.”----
Chance had brought them together. Reality tore them apart.
And yet James hasn’t stopped hoping. He’s still searching for the memory of the summer when he fell in love. He’s still looking for Regulus Black.
Regulus Black follows the path his parents set up for him. The good son. The one who does what he is told. But he remembers. He still remembers the songs of the buzzards under the moorland skies. He still remembers James Potter.

James Potter longs for his soulmate. He’s always bemoaned the mundane words on his skin but he is sure one day he’ll find his one.
Too bad he’s going to die before he ever gets to meet them. At least he has a beautiful angel to guide him to heaven, even if the angel insists he isn’t actually an angel and that James is very much alive.
Oh, and then the angel says his words.
