Summary
There are several things that the dwarves don't know about the hobbit that is traveling with them. Things that Bilbo is glad to let them find out for themselves along the way.
The first is that he's prepared for anything. His mother used to quiz him about what he'd do in any situation - from relatives to trolls - and Bilbo never disappointed her with his answers. Riding a pony all day gives him plenty of time to plan for everything.
The second is that he can throw a stone or any other small object hard enough to embed it several inches into a tree trunk. His accuracy is uncanny even by Shire standards. He's quite proud of it.
The third is that he doesn't actually say so many proverbs when at home but it seems to annoy the dwarves so he spends time thinking up all the ones he's heard before.
And last, hobbits scold like it is no one's business. The Dwarves he's traveling with really have no idea what will happen if they truly piss him off.

Due to perfect recollection, it is entirely unnecessary for vampires to keep a diary or similar record of our immortal lives. However, that doesn't stop some of us, especially those with semi-permanent residences, from keeping little collections of mementoes. For me, it is dates and places. Written down neatly in the small leatherbound notebook Alice gifted me many years ago, they guide my memory whenever I decide to delve back into a certain period of my past. And there are many moments, both happy and sad, joyful and terrifying, to remember.

*** 5/29/2025: I am currently going through and updating some spelling and grammar issues throughout the fic, along with re-wording some things to help with the flow of it. I wrote this fic when I was 17 and in the last two years, my style has changed quite a bit in a way I feel is more comprehensive and I feel like it's time that I edit this. I'm also trying to get back into writing fics and I think this is a good first step. I'm hoping to perfect this as much as possible and make it worthy of the love it's received. The last thing she needs is Lilith "Shadow" Gaunt showing up in her life, making it look easy to take all the electives (*without* a time turner), beating her in essays and casting advanced magic like it's nothing. Unfortunately, Gaunt is actually a "temporally displaced" version of Tom Riddle, so someone needs to keep an eye on her, and what are the chances that someone will be anyone other than Hermione?
