Summary
Maelle looks at the mirror shards scattered across the floor, a disarray of sharp and jagged pieces that can never be put back together again. "I know you’re not him..." she admits in a shaky whisper. Her tear-filled eyes find Verso, the blues and greys of paint starting to unravel the edges of them, mocking him. "But you deserve to be happy,” she says. We deserve to be happy, she means.
“I deserve to be myself,” Verso says, and it sounds like a plea more than anything else. The skin around his left eye aches, as if it’s waiting for his scar’s return.
Maelle sighs before she sweeps her hand through the air, calling for her rapier. It appears in a flutter of gold petals, glimmering in the dim light of the bathroom. Her eyes are cast in shadow and her disappointed smile is somewhat crooked. "Alright. Let's try again."
or: Maelle wants a happy end for everyone she cares about, and she will keep trying until even Verso gets it right.

Summary
It doesn’t really happen a lot in their line of work.
That’s what he keeps telling himself, when her hands are on his chest, gliding over smooth skin and gnarled scars, when his head is yanked back so hard he swears they’ve ripped the hair from the roots, barely able to breathe, neck strained so far back.
They’d figured out fairly quickly that the standard doesn’t work on him. He hadn’t broken at the knife, at the way they’d carved his skin and dug deep, weeping wounds into hot flesh. Hadn’t broken at the hammer, the torch, anything.
It’s logical, then, that this be their next approach.

Ghost, under threat of another psychological evaluation from both his CO and therapist, has been forced to partake in a penpal programme with another soldier in order to "practise empathy" and "re-establish human connection." He hates it until he doesn't.
MacTavish willingly volunteers for the SAS's new penpal programme because what the hell, it could be fun. And when his penpal ends up being adorably emotionally constipated, well, that certainly doesn't hurt.

Radio Silence, "Can you hear me?", Mistaken IdentityTim Drake, aged 11, finds an abandoned walkie-talkie and decides to start his own little personal radioshow to combat his loneliness. Jason Todd, Robin, happens to have the other walkie, and soon Tim doesn't feel as lonely anymore.
Tim Drake, aged 16, is lonely once again. But now he's Robin. He keeps talking into the walkie, and his one-man audience happens to still be the same... if a bit more murderous.

Summary
Despite everything he might have tried to avoid it, Jason had to grudgingly admit that after a) utterly failing to kill any of his family and b) getting to the stage of actively helping them not die, he was actually back in the family for the long haul. Damn it. Somehow this turned into Jason taking a job in the family business, which would be well within his comfort zone if they were a mafia syndicate, instead of the proprietors of a business that generated a significant fraction of America's GDP.
Jason has reservations about this.
There is one consolation in this hellscape of paperwork, meetings, snotty IT workers and being co-workers with his idiot brothers. He meets an intern named Tim, who never fails to make him smile.

The first time one of Tim’s battle wounds seems to heal all too quickly, Bruce startles him by asking about it.
“Uh,” Tim says eloquently, “Er. I suppose it just wasn’t that bad."
Bruce looks past him at the exact point on the floor of the Batcave where Tim had lost like a pint of blood the day before.
“Wasn’t that bad,” he echoes dryly.
[Tim just happens to be a very large, fire-breathing lizard. He manages, until he doesn't.]

Minute’s voice is low and careful as he asks, “How can I trust you?”
“How can I prove to you that you can?” Taking a page out of the other man’s book, Spoke tries to keep his voice neutral, attempting to prevent emotion from bleeding into it.
“I don’t know,” he sounds surprisingly…exhausted. His free hand rakes through his hair, pushing the few strands that had fallen across his forehead back. “I don’t really think it’s my job to tell you that, is it? Doesn’t it seem like a bad idea to just hand out that answer to anyone and everyone who asks how to earn my trust? Doesn’t that just seem like a recipe for disaster?”
Before Spoke can really think about the consequences of doing so, voice quiet, he asks, “Is that how you see me? Am I just ‘anyone’ to you now?”
It clearly catches Minute off guard. The hand holding his sword wavers, ever so slightly.

Wemmbu prides himself in not being an emotionally vulnerable person.
He never lets himself show any signs of vulnerability to anyone except Egg, because vulnerability leads to weakness and weakness leads to exploitation, or worse- abandonment.
Because of that, he's practically sworn himself to secrecy. He doesn't let any cracks show whatsoever.
Well, most of the time, that is the case. However, it takes less than you'd expect to break that mask of confidence.
All it took him was one shrieker, and a conversation with Jaden.
