Wei Wuxian didn’t imagine acquiring a cat like this, nor did he imagine acquiring a fluffy white cat that, even covered in dirt and debris and clutched to a four-year-old’s chest like a teddy bear, manages to give the impression it’s judged his entire life and found it deeply wanting.
“Uh, A’Yuan,” he asks slowly, just in case this is a hallucination. “Who’s this?”
“A cat,” A’Yuan says proudly, leaning his round cheek against the top of the cat’s head, while the cat continues to look at Wei Wuxian like he’s wearing week-old clothes covered in food stains.
Or: Wei Wuxian gets a cat, and then a boyfriend, both of which are a surprise.

And then later, as their scents mingle with each other's - Sandalwood and pine and lotus blooms, like a place where the mountains meet water, Lan Zhan splays his fingers across Wei Wuxian's stomach, whispers softly into the slope of his shoulders.

They say nothing can grow in the Burial Mounds, but Luo Qingyang learns the lie of that her first week. For one thing, there are the tiny, flowering potato plants that Wen Qing hovers over, shooting mutinous glances at Wei Wuxian.
Luo Qingyang isn't entirely certain she knows what that's about, but the potato plants look like potato plants and in the end Wen Qing might thunder around the mountain grumbling about them, but she guards those plants like a hawk.
Or, Luo Qingyang goes to the Burial Mounds.
