He was heading back to the loft after the first 12 hour shift of three in a row, opting for the stairs instead, needing the extra time to clear his head after another crappy day at work. He thought after three weeks the team would at least start to forgive him, but nobody had so much as looked his way for more than ten seconds before averting their eyes in disgust. He climbed the last flight of stairs and headed down the hallway toward his loft, he pulled his keys from his pocket and fumbled when they slipped from his grasp and clattered to the floor, the noise echoing through the silent hallway. He bent down to pick them up, only to get whacked in the back of the head as he rose, his face smashing against his door, leaving a small trail of blood from the impact as he passed out, feeling a small prick in his neck.
