He’s always got that casual air around him, like he moves out of intuition and the rest of the world simply decides to cooperate with the space his body occupies. Bradley leans his head against the wall as he contemplates how it’s possible for a person to care so little about being perceived. It makes no sense. Al Haitham hums. “And why would I do that? I’ve got no interest.”
“You do,” Kaveh mumbles, moving his face even closer until his lips brush his earlobe. Despite the heat, Al Haitham shivers. “We’ve gone over this, haven’t we?”
Al Haitham swallows, feeling the way his skin burns at Kaveh’s tone: low, breathy, dry from the lack of moisture down his throat from the heat. “It’s too hot to try any of that.”
There’s a pause. Not a very long one, not at all, but every second feels like an eternity when Al Haitham’s tongue has grown heavy and dry in astonishingly little time. There’s a shaky breath from Kaveh, then the unmistakable feeling of his tongue just-about brushing his earlobe as Kaveh wets his lips.
“I can make you hotter,” Kaveh suggests.

Summary
Kaveh used to think that Alhaitham had mastered the art of ignoring him. The man would remain unflappable as he continued to read his worn copy of The Origins of Enkanomiyan Language, even when Kaveh was a hair’s breadth away from shattering the windows of their house with his severity of pitch.
No amount of screaming, threats to throw things, or violently waving in front of him could get Alhaitham to pause in his thirst for knowledge. As it turns out, Alhaitham literally just turns his hearing aids off so he doesn’t have to listen to Kaveh.
It’s for this exact reason that Kaveh has decided to learn Sumerian Sign Language.
