"'How about a toast instead?' he said, raising his glass.
'Sounds like perfection,' she said, leaning her elbow onto her crossed knee and placing her chin into her hand, holding up her glass with the other.
'To tonight,' he said as he clicked her glass with his own.
They each took a sip, looking each other in the eye as they swallowed. Her eyes flicked down to his lips as he leaned into her ear. Her heart started beating harder at the smell of his aftershave.
'Go wait for me in my office,' he whispered as he kissed her on a cheek."

I was tied to a chair, that much was obvious. My face hurts, the black eye I knew was there…throbbing. I wiggled and pulled against the tight ropes. ‘Well, look who’s awake.’ Rick tsked from a dark corner. I roll my eyes, ‘The basement, Rick? Couldn’t you be any more cliché?’ he bolted and slapped my harsh;y across the face, I smiled and spat out the blood. He was giving which I desired most, Pain. Pain in an uncontrollable situation. I have the power to get hit if I say something to set him off. ‘Don’t you dare talk to me like that.’ He spat in my face.

Summary
When there are no distractions, Jughead is acutely aware of the uncomfortable plastic coated pillow and his heart wrenches with the knowledge that three rooms away from him, Betty almost certainly has the exact same one. Standard blue hospital plastic. It probably sticks to her cheek too, her most likely bruised or cut cheek, and all of it— plastic against her face, Betty hurt, Betty here —all of it is his fault.
Betty got caught in the crossfire of his fight and Jughead will never forgive himself for it.
