Summary
He had gone from toiling as an assistant to teaching first year classes and filling in for the more senior professors when the occasion arose. It was boring. Biology was not even his field of study. Not that he had an official field of study, unless memorizing Heimerdinger’s insane organizational system, a thing built over centuries, counted. His life was a monotony quickly slipping through his fingers. His leg and back were failing. He felt old before his time and there was the ever-ticking clock hanging over his head.
There had been a promise of something more, once. An explosion. A journal that was meant to be destroyed. A theory so insane it barely made sense until you looked closer and realized that the science was sound. However, it was not to be. A child had died.Instead of forgetting Viktor exists, Heimerdinger seeks him out when he, Ekko, and Powder hit a snag with their Hextech research. It doesn't take long to realize that they need a fifth great mind and Viktor goes to find Jayce while the timeline starts to shatter.

Summary
Two weeks after Diluc's ninth birthday, his father, an ill-tempered man whom he has always been afraid of, arrives home with a strange, quiet boy, perhaps a year or two older than him. His skin is a warm, beautiful brown, his hair so black that it appears almost blue in the daylight, and he does not smile. “This is Kaeya,” his father tells him, brimming with adoration. "He will be staying with us from now on. Come and say hello."
As they grow up, Diluc wonders why his father dotes on Kaeya, what it is about him that pacifies his rage, and how he can redeem himself to become worthy of such compassion. One night, after weathering two decades of his father's unrelenting wrath, Diluc returns home to find him dead in his living room, and embarks upon a journey of discovering the truth about his father, Kaeya, and himself, and how the two of them do not differ so much, after all.
A story of dark secrets, trauma, and learning how to love.

"... I haven't heard you complain like this in years," Kaeya says.
We haven't talked properly in years, Diluc wants to say, but even his rut-addled brain knows he's the one at fault for that. He thus remains silent.
Instead, he tugs his shirt up, revealing his vulnerable stomach, his chest, and brings Kaeya's hand there instead.
"Diluc," Kaeya says, strangled. They both watch, enraptured, as the cloth leaves trails of shining wet on Diluc's skin. His scars especially seem to glisten. Diluc presses down, forcing moisture from the cloth. Water runs in rivulets down his chest, gathering in the valleys between his pectorals, his abs, and into the dip of his belly button. The cold causes his nipples to stiffen.
"Barbatos," Kaeya says, faintly, "give me strength."

And so could the first two share each other’s grief and joy, hunger and spite.

This is a story about food.
This is a story about the time Diluc Ragnvindr told a reporter that none of the dishes in his own restaurant were as good as the ramen Kaeya Alberich made for him in culinary school. He had no reason to bring it up. It wasn't like they were friends. They were barely even classmates, seeing as Kaeya decided to drop out and leave the valedictorian spot to Diluc.
(This is also maybe, possibly, kind of a love story.)

Kaeya Alberich, tenuously employed, horny, and suffering from acid-reflux, is the reality show's host who unwittingly falls in love with Diluc at first sight. Diluc being strictly off-limits to the crew should ease Kaeya's suffering. It doesn't.
