Lance had always envisioned himself as the kind of guy who’d grow up to have the whole package: nice house near his family, a decent job, a couple close friends, a spouse he loved, and a few rugrats with his last name. It wasn’t even like he felt obligated by the pressure of conformity or whatever his crunchy sister called it. He just…genuinely wanted it, you know? Work hard, get what you deserve, be happy. He’d been raised in a loving family; it was only natural to want one of his own, right?
So - okay, so the point was that he wasn’t discontent. In the end, he had all of those things. He saw his buddies when he hit the mainland. His family only lived a modest drive away. And he was engaged to the love of his fucking life, right? How many people got to say that?
Keith was everything: smart, funny, hardworking, loyal, surprisingly good company…and thank god for that last one, because it made the whole ‘Unexpected career choice of being stuck on a lonely rock in the middle of the ocean because your boyfriend is a semi-famous-YouTuber-turned-lighthouse keeper’ thing much easier to swallow.
And hell - they even had a kid.
Well.
