"I'm givin' ya five seconds ta get yer fuckin' hands of 'a me before I sock ya in yer fuckin' teeth." Zanka hisses, full of all the aversion he can muster when his mouth finally decides to work like its been dying to all night.
The problem is—Jabber all but melts into his hold, his body instantly wrapping itself around Zanka's own like the finishing touches of a ribbon around a gift.
This…thing—whatever it is Jabber offers him—is anything but a fucking gift.

Zanka wasn't sure when his days became so dull, when the line between routine and idling became one in the same. He remembers when he'd wake up energized each and every morning, ready for the day. Excited to go for a run before morning classes, pleased to read during his lunch, happy to study when he got home. Studying, training, working to get better, to make them proud. To prove he was worthy. It was good, it meant he was hard-working.
But he didn't feel those things anymore, excited, pleased, happy. He didn't know when he stopped feeling, maybe it was gradual. A slow, steady, descent into stillness. He didn't stop his routine, of course. He still worked hard, this position he held was important. Every A+ hanging off his neck like a medal, flashing so bright that others would shy away. The metaphorical crown carving grooves into his head was always supposed to be there, it never fell.
And maybe that's why Zanka's breath caught so hard when it finally slipped.
Or; Zanka meets a nice man while standing on the edge and relearns what it means to be alive, to have a real family, and fall in love.

…Fuck, okay. Zanka can admit it. He wants to watch the light leave Jabber’s eyes.
Wants his enemy’s lifeblood smeared all over Aibō’s curves, soaking her so deep that Zanka can never get the stain out. Wants to lick it off her with his tongue, and swallow down enough that Jabber’s mercurial essence becomes part of Zanka too.

Zanka's palms pushed up from the floor, letting him stare daggers into the man’s skull. He watched as the other man fidgeted with one of the charms hanging off the main clock. A tiny hourglass, each stream of sand slipped past itself in a way that felt wrong, like time stuttering instead of flowing down.
He was going to show him. Show him what he could do against his genius.
Fuck, he had to stop saying that…
… was his last thought as he drifted off into unconsciousness.

Time is a mental process, distinguishable and avoidable only by the mind itself. The concept of time was one of the most curious things; sometimes it seemed to stop, other times it seemed to move too fast, but Jabber personally saw it as sand between his fingers. Slipping away. Unable to hold more than a few grains of what should've been a great pile.
