At 27, Tony watched as the group of heroes turned against the government. He watched as they teamed up with a man formally known as James Barnes, and destroyed the system. Steve Rogers had come to the conclusion that if the world he’d woken up in was in chaos, then they would force it to run as they wanted. It took one year before the group had systematically taken over the world.
Tony didn't grow up into a playboy. He didn't grow up in the spotlight like everyone had expected. He grew up fast, and mostly alone. So when the former heroes took over the government, he and a small group of friends went into hiding.
“Stark, I’ve been looking for you,” the man’s grin was anything but kind. Feral. Steve tilted his head as he stared at the face plate that had slid over Tony’s face. “Do you know, you’re just as pretty as your dad was, and even smarter.”
At the age of 28, Tony Stark became the most wanted man on the planet.

Pretty much everything had gone to hell after the accident, really. Life had been good beforehand. His dad had been distant, sure, but his mother had been a warm light to wipe that all away. At least Howard had been supportive, in his own way. He hadn’t liked that Tony wanted to be a dancer, but he’d made damn sure Tony would be the absolute best once he figured out there was no persuading the young genius otherwise. He’d even been at that performance; the last one Tony had ever done. It was hard to keep dancing after a spinal injury, after all. “How are you, how are you feeling?” Steve asks, braving a step forward beyond the threshold of the room.
“Oh, well, you know me, if I have some trashy magazines at my disposal, I’m all ears.” Tony pauses. “Why are you here, Cap?”

Summary
The thing is, despite what others may think and believe and assume, Tony is unhappy.
He has a lovely husband, yes, who spends all of his waking hours at the office instead of at home with his family. He has two children who look at him like he can fix everything in their world, yet they feel Steve's absence more and more each day, and Tony doesn't know how to fix that. And then, Tony meets Natasha Romanoff, one of Steve's colleagues, and he starts to realise exactly why his husband prefers not to come home anymore.
Despite this, Tony loves Steve, loves him enough that he's willing to ignore any indiscretions, if it means that his family will stay together and whole.
But when Tony's first love, James, also known as the most terrifyingly competent mass murderer in the world, the Winter Soldier, shows up after almost a decade, asking for his help to fight a terrorist organisation that Tony knows all too well, suddenly, keeping his family together and whole isn't as easy as he thought it would be, when it was just him who had to suffer.
Now, he's torn between the man that left but came back to him and the man who loves him but maybe not enough.

Anyone who knows Tony Stark knows that the man doesn't show affection or praise like most people. He gives you his approval or admiration in the form of kisses. A kiss on the cheek, the forehead, even a quick peck on the lips. Only those closest to Tony would get too see this side of him. Tony would rather give an affectionate kiss than a hug or pat on the back.
So why was it that everyone got to experience Tony kisses except Steve?
