The man’s looks caught him by surprise; while his clothes were very much fit for a bounty hunter, mainly the obnoxiously large hat, his face was unexpectedly young and soft-looking for a man of his reputation. Which meant that either Song Mingi had to work hard to make a name for himself as an incredible sharp shooter or that his skill was something fabricated by the empire and that the man was no more than yet another puppet of imperial propaganda.

He glanced at the droid for the fifth time in approximately two minutes, entranced by how oddly humanlike he looked. He was well aware that the droid wasn’t covered in shiny metal plates like a protocol droid nor the matte coverage of an astromech, but something about seeing the droid moving around and observing his surroundings with puppy-like wonder instead of lying motionless in the corner was making his mind short circuit.

At first glance Thomas was sure the victim was already long gone, just a burned, mangled husk attached to tubes and wires. But he was shocked to see that the heart monitor was slowly beeping. “What happened?” Thomas immediately questioned. “There was an explosion in an abandoned building around Park Row. He was found in the rubble. He was resuscitated on the scene and coded once in the ambulance. Aside from severe burns, broken bones and trauma the worst injury seems to be a wound at his throat caused by a sharp object.” They rattled off more information as Thomas quickly prepped for surgery. Every second was going to have to count to save this one.

Jason dies in the explosion after his throat is cut by Batman's batarang. But somehow he wakes up he in an alternate universe where Thomas and Martha Wayne didn't die, and Bruce never became Batman. Lost and alone Jason struggles with his injuries and his own existence, but the Waynes are determined to help him every step of the way. Jason finds himself the pseudo older brother to a teenage Dick and a baby Damian. Little do the Wayne's know that Jason has a knack for "adopting" kids. He starts with his own tiny counterpart.

Summary
Moonlight lit up a darkened apartment. He blinked stinging tears out of his eyes. He couldn't recognise anything in the dim lights coming from the streets far, far below. Before he could do anything else, before he could even really take in where he was, a lamp flicked on and a gun was aimed at him.
A man with a metal arm stood wielding it with an ice cold expression on his face. “Who the hell are you?” he rasped, voice cold.
Jason shifted, blinking when he moved out of the shadows and into the light.
“Jason?” The man's gun dropped to his side. “Is that blood?”
“Buck, what's going on?” A boy emerged from the hallway, wearing red pajamas covered in multicolored books, and wiping his eyes like he'd just woken up. “What was that noise?”
Jason gasped when the boy pulled his hands from his face.
It was him. Little him. Tiny him.
He blinked but the kid was still there. This couldn’t be real — it had to be some type of dying dream. A hallucination, or coma.
“Buck?” Little him asked again, voice wobbling as his eyes darted between the two of them. “Is that me?”
Jason decided that this was a good time to pass out.
