Summary
Her apartment welcomes her back in a waft of alcohol, the dregs of all her abandoned bottles leaving a permanent mark in even the air she breathes. Everything is just as she left it- there is nothing thieves could do to this place that wouldn't make it better.
Vi takes a seat on the edge of her bed, and the air shifts around her.
It was useless to try and run. How can she outrun her own torturous brain? Like the tremors, and thirst, it is embedded into her, would take a knife to dislodge.
Vi sighs, lightens the squeeze of her eyelids, stares up at the ceiling, and, finally, looks out across her room.
"Are you ever gonna leave me alone?"

Summary
“...Could I have my ball back?”
“This is yours?” she pokes it with the toe of her fucked up shoe. Good material, nice and rigid. The bin at the rec centre has a few, but they’re these lumpy things the kids like to smack each other with rather than kick.
The girl looks around. It should read as mocking- it comes across completely genuine. “There’s no one else here.”
“What’s in it for me?”
“I’ll… leave you alone?”
Vi smothers the urge to grin.
She groans instead, gets to her feet, and- outside part, right?- kicks the ball with the broad side of her foot. It gets the job done. Vi blinks, and the girl has the ball snug under her cleat. Huh.
“That was a good kick,” she says with the tiniest quirk of her lip, like she couldn’t believe it.
Vi is sixteen, and furious about it. Her sister's a target for Zaun High's bottom of the barrel, her city is given less grace than a dying roadside animal, and beyond being angry about these two specific things- she has nothing going on.
But one day, a chance escape to Zaun park's dingy soccer field, somehow, changes everything- and it all starts with a girl who really shouldn't be here.

Summary
“First come these,” Cait holds out the stack of paper squares she’s fetched from the vanity- the pasties, flower shaped, the colour of her skin. “Would you like me to put them on?”
Vi snorts. “You wanna touch my nipples so bad.”
“My hands are about to be all over you, Vi.”
“Lucky me.”
Cait rolls her eye. “I’ll take that as a yes, then.”
And the thing is, Vi is more than capable of doing all this herself. She’s figured out way more complicated things, has the manoeuvrability to tie her own chest back, no extra hands required. She doesn’t need Cait to put stickers on her nipples for her.
She just wants her to.
Cait helps Vi tape her chest for the first time. Feelings abound.

“It’s perfect,” Vi snickers, eyes trained on the swaying, bright cupcake sign above the doorway to Sweet Delights. “Found it trying to make a shortcut back home a few days ago. I can’t believe you Pilties have got a whole place just for cupcakes.”
“That’s always been there,” Caitlyn deadpans, trying not to flush under the realisation of how frivolous it is.
“And you didn’t tell me?”
“Precisely because I knew you’d be insufferable about it.”
Vi’s grin sharpens. “Scared I might get my fill of cupcake elsewhere?”
Caitlyn and Vi have a sweet little lunchbreak date.

Summary
Cait is midway through tying a sprig of those white berries to the point of the spiral staircase which hangs just above her head when she whips around to gawk at Vi like she’s been caught doing something illicit. She blooms a cute red, down to her collarbone, exposed in the blazerless uniform chemise she’s unbuttoned down from its typical, perfectly professional state.
“Welcome back,” Cait says breathlessly. A little… invitingly, if Vi isn’t mistaken. Her girlfriend straightens her posture and looks at Vi like she’s waiting.
Vi huffs a little laugh under her breath. Who is she to deny Caitlyn the compliment she’s so obviously fishing for? “You put these up yourself?”
“I had some spare time,” Caitlyn says, a little smirk gracing her lips.
“They’re nice,” Vi smiles, walking over to inspect the box of decorations, intent on pitching in.
Behind her, Caitlyn is quiet. Then, almost inaudibly, she laughs- awkwardly, nervously, as if shaking off a disappointment.
“They… are.”
Caitlyn and Vi prepare to celebrate their first Snowdown together. Unfortunately, Vi isn't aware of one particular custom- yet.

Summary
“Cait,” Vi says sternly. Caitlyn sports an endlessly satisfied look on her face, like a cat lazed out in a spot of sunlight. It makes Vi’s knees feel like jelly.
“You’re a dick,” Vi says.
“Sorry,” Caitlyn says. “I’ve been wanting to do that for hours.” She does actually look apologetic, surprisingly, with her eyes wide and softened around the edges, and all it does is make Vi hornier.
“You’re blushing,” Caitlyn says.
“I’m not,” Vi says, a little too quick. “I’m trying to make sure your fractured ribs don’t puncture a lung. Since I’m the only one who currently seems worried about that happening.” She scowls. Or, she tries to, at least. She has no idea if it actually comes off that way.
Caitlyn only sways a little on her feet, dragging a lithe finger right across Vi’s cheekbone. “You are,” she murmurs. Her hand moves down, teasing at the collar of Vi’s shirt. “All the way down to here. It matches your hair.”

Vi slumped onto the opposite end of the sofa, letting her head fall back against the cushion. "I don't get it, Cait. She was nice. Real pretty, too. But halfway through the appetizers, she just... shut down. By the time the main course arrived, she asked for the check and told me I should probably just go home to my wife."
Caitlyn froze, her wine glass halfway to her lips. "Your... wife?"
"Yeah! I told her I wasn't married, obviously," Vi said, throwing her hands up in frustration. "And then she got all weird and said, 'If you aren't married to her, then you're obsessed with her, because you haven't stopped talking about a woman named Caitlyn for forty minutes straight'."
Caitlyn felt the blood rush to her face. She carefully set her glass on the coffee table so Vi wouldn't see her hands shaking. "You talked about me? For forty minutes?!"

Caitlyn has been in love with her best friend for 10 years. The best friend in question is just stupidly dense... not until someone decides to sweep Caitlyn off her feet.

In the aftermath of the war in Piltover and the Hexgates becoming inoperable, allies are in need of reassuring and trade deals are in need of renegotiating. Due to her House's connections, Caitlyn is asked to be one of the city's representatives on a diplomatic mission to Ionia, and of course, Vi won't be letting her go it alone.
The past is always close behind, and the future is still uncertain, after all.

Summary
Caitlyn is reminded of a story her mother told her as a girl, of a siren trading her voice for the life of her lover.
Time and time again, Violet has traded her life and happiness for others. She placed her heart in the hands of those she loved and could do nothing but watch as those she trusted squeezed it into atrophy. Caitlyn had done it herself: stomped on Violet’s vulnerable heart without a second glance and left her to bleed out. It’s not something she thinks she’ll ever be able to forgive herself for.
But she won’t make the same mistake twice.
