He sings into the microphone, his eyes shut tight and his hands gripped to the stand as he belts.
It isn’t – it can’t be.
His eyes open, and like a compass pointing north, that hauntingly familiar grey lands right on James.'In a room full of people I look for you.'

~Or. Three years ago, in a Paris nightclub, James sees Regulus dancing and falls for him on the spot. They agree to start a relationship, knowing it will have to end when James goes back to London, on the condition that afterwards they go completely no contact. By the time it ends they're both heartbroken but stick to their agreement and lose contact.
Years later they are still NOT over it and make it absolutely everyone else's problem.
Until James is invited by Sirius to watch his little brother's band and finds his ex stood at the microphone singing an album worth of songs about their month together in Paris.

1) Hating his older brother’s best friend, James Potter. Has Regulus met the man before now? No. But he has deemed James Potter his mortal enemy since he was ten years old.
2) A certain voice actor by the pseudonym Jay, who makes “spicy” audios.
Regulus has always known the universe to have a sick sense of humour but he didn’t know it was this cruel. He’d recognize that voice anywhere. To Regulus’s shock and abject horror, James Potter is Jay, there’s no doubt about it.

Summary
If James Potter excels at one thing, it’s compartmentalizing. Everything in his life—Quidditch, classes, relationships—fits neatly into its own box. It’s how he keeps his overly affectionate friendship with Sirius from crossing the line into something more. Even when their dynamic begins to blur the societal boundary between platonic and romantic, the boxes are there to protect him.
But then something shifts. New feelings arise, ones James wasn’t prepared for, and he builds more boxes to contain them. He pours everything inside, seals them shut, and puts them on a shelf to deal with later.
