Summary
Kenshi slowly peels himself out of his suit jacket and dress shirt, trying to put as little strain on his blade wound as physically possible. Johnny stands in front of him, hydrogen peroxide, gauze, hotel towels, and a plethora of other first aid kit tools held precariously in his hands.
“I can do this part myself,” Kenshi insists. Johnny changes his grip to hold the medical supplies as best he can in his dominant hand, and eases Kenshi down onto the bed behind him with his free hand on his chest. Kenshi is embarrassed by how easily he goes along with the motion.
“It’s okay to let people help you, you know,” Johnny says as he soaks a washcloth with hydrogen peroxide. He kneels between Kenshi’s spread legs.
“I’m dripping blood all over your hotel room and I met you an hour ago,” Kenshi remarks. “I feel like you’ve done enough.”
Johnny shrugs as he tries to clean Kenshi’s wound without hurting him. He winces when he hears Kenshi suck a sharp breath in.
“You rushed outside to see if I was okay.”
Kenshi catches Johnny’s eyes, his expression puzzled.
“Yes?”
Johnny smiles.
“That’s so sweet of you.”

both sensationally well-written and heartbreaking. can't think of a better characterization of kenshi in the archive. personally a huge fan of internal dialogue so this was an incredible read for me.

Kung Lao grabbed his shoulder again, much tighter this time, and pushed Kenshi back into his seat. Kenshi grunted at the force and began raising a hand to retaliate, but Kung Lao smacked it away as though he were a child.
"I'm not messing with you, Kenshi."

long time since my first read and subsequent comment/initial bookmark, but this stays one of my favorite johnshi works of all time. from the lighthearted shenanigans, to the mutual pining, to the heartfelt confession. it's funny, it's emotional, it's in-character. definitely one of the best johnshi fics in the archive and an overall fun read!

it's been a long time since the last i read this, and probably longer than that since i first bookmarked it, but i vividly remember the first time reading this had me genuinely in tears. it made me want to push mk1 on people i knew so i could have them experience the same things i did. a short read packed with such intense emotion.

The story of Imperial Tsundere Pair over the Warriors Orochi series, this is a look behind the scenes in the game, how Cao Pi and Ishida Mitsunari forged a bond across time, space and culture that continued after they returned to their own time at the end of Warriors Orochi 3.
Written from Cao Pi's perspective, Head Over Feet tells of them falling in love during Warriors Orochi 1. Also from Cao Pi's perspective, A Few Close Shaves and Never, Never add some extra insight to their relationship. Memories In Ash and Snow tells of Mitsunari's childhood and his death with Cao Pi at Hulao Gate in the original timeline of Warriors Orochi 3. 白雪無双 has them reincarnated into an alternate fairytale universe after dying at the end of Memories In Ash and Snow. Finally, These Dreams I Dreamed is the story of what happens after they return to their own time as told by Mitsunari during the upheaval of Sekigahara as he reads Cao Pi's memoirs.
