SO SO SO detailed and gorgeous and wonderful and soft and poetic and EVERY single part of this is so well thought out and free-flowing. i really love how wangxian isn't the sole focus here -- there's family and there's grief and secrets and friendships and guilt, and all emotions are portrayed in varying shades that make me go HNGGGGH!!!!

The melody gets a little clearer when he breaks out of the trees, and Jingyi changes course with certainty, barreling down the back hill and through the Cloud Recesses, dodging scandalized disciples left and right. He throws open the doors to the Receiving Hall without announcement and bows nearly double, eyes on the floor instead of on the shocked faces of the Mei delegation and the impenetrable gaze of the Chief Cultivator.
"Forgive this disciple," Jingyi shouts, because he's going to get punished for rule breaking regardless. "From the back hill, Hanguang-jun, there is a song in the wind!"
Lan Jingyi comes of age.

absolutely stunning. gorgeous in emotion and so incredibly detailed. the little pockets of memory and flashbacks made swoon, but for me, the best part of the fic is the way that the author describes wei ying's journey to liberation and self-sustainablity. it is so raw. so awful and heartbreaking and conflicted and real, and it ripped me open and i CRIED because i relate far more than i cared to admit. the way his experiences were written give me hope and ideas for better mechanisms of living. the biggest thank you to the author for writing this, i think it changed my life
