.Natasha swallows thickly, turning her attention back to the controls. And her hand travels down to the base of her belly, hovering over her growing bump, in which her baby resides. Natasha's baby. Her child, whom she is going to do everything in her power to protect. To raise happily and without any worries.
And in order to do that, she needs to protect the rest of her family. The Avengers. Yelena. There are too many unknown variables to consider. Ross. UN. Being on the run from the government. Taking care of the remaining Red Room facilities. Finding Rose.
They have to be careful. There's too much at risk.
Or...
Natasha Romanoff has survived the civil war. She's survived facing the devil from her nightmares. But that doesn't mean she's in clear waters. The hunt is on to find her lost daughter. To hide from Ross, who is after her blood now more than ever. To protect her baby. Whatever it takes.

13 years ago those words had broken Natasha’s heart and numbed it to ice. 13 years ago Madame told Natasha they’d killed the child in her womb during her graduation ceremony. 13 years ago Dreykov forced Natasha to watch as the Winter Soldier was wiped of all memory of her.
She’d had cause to curse the Red Room a thousand times over but even she hadn't seen this coming. She'd never imagined Madame lied. She hadn’t considered Dreykov would want to keep the Winter Soldier’s child.
When Steve asked her to look for Bucky, she didn’t expect to find him. She wasn't prepared to find a 10 year old with red hair, green eyes, and her James's features.
She thought she’d lost her child forever, before she even had her, but it was all a lie. Now suddenly she’s mother to a traumatised 10 year old girl more familiar with guns than hugs. Her child has spent 3 years frozen in cryogenic storage and the other 10 training as a Widow.
And Natasha would go to the ends of the earth and fight any monster to protect her daughter but even she might not be up to the task of protecting her baby girl. Because the Red Room is still out there, and Dreykov will stop at nothing.

The Red Room is not for making friends.
Natalia comes away from the world at one, into dark walls and bright lights, red-tinted shadows and the distinct weight of discomfort cutting through the air. Her mother is handsomely paid off, nevermind her father, and Natalia doesn’t feel warm for a very, very long time.
She feels hot, sometimes, like when she falls two beats off and Madame B hits her with the strap, and cold, when the Red Room parachutes them into the northmost point of the nation to see how they fare. She learns the words of Snow White when she’s four, learns to recite them on command. The General comes and takes her face in his hands, thumb and index finger digging through her cheeks, and says this one has promise.
She sees a blue-eyed girl, but maybe that’s a vision.
