Summary
Blaze-born courtship rituals were a thing that Tango saw as if through a foggy window. He’d been rejected by the Tek Pyre when he was ten, basically the literal instant the pyre rules allowed them to throw him out. Even when he had been living there, he’d been belittled and abused. It was hard, because a lot of the things felt stilted to him, and yet also slotted perfectly into place. Like he should be doing them naturally, and yet had never been taught precisely the right steps, or the correct delivery. Blaze-borns were fire. They were possessive and consuming by nature. Things like courtship necklaces were meant to try and negate some of those feelings before they could turn violent, as far as Tango understood. It was selfish. It was greedy. Yet he couldn’t help himself.
Zed was beautiful. He was brilliant and bright and sun-kissed. He didn’t belong to the dark place where Tango was raised, sputtering and sparking.
Yet Tango couldn't help but want even just a tiny piece of that beauty all to himself.
{in which Tango fails successfully 5 times straight, Zed needs some neosporin for multiple reasons, and there's a very, very conveniently timed power outage}

Summary
Martyn had never been so excited for a stay-at-home movie night in his life. He was walking to Ren’s apartment, the number already memorized as he headed through the lobby and mounted the stairs. This was his first time over at his boyfriends place, and while before he’d thought Ren was just reserved or slow with relationships, now he knew the truth.
Ren was a dog hybrid, concealing parts of himself to live in the over-city.
Martyn had found this out rather spectacularly during an unplanned, accidental visit to the under-city. But now he knew.
Now he knew.
Which meant the door was open. Open to what, he wasn't quite sure yet. But it was a lot more than he'd had before, when it had just been the smallest crack into this man he'd already fallen so deeply for. Had he admitted that yet? No, not really. But that wasn't the point tonight. The point tonight was the make Ren feel wanted. And Martyn was absolutely certain he could manage that.
{In which Ren needs more hair ties, Martyn couldn't care less what the movie was about, and one thing leads to another thing leads to them. And they were alright.}

Summary
Dating someone with difficult-to-read cues and unexplained baggage was incredibly frustrating for Martyn. Ren had been better for him, and to him, than anyone he'd been with before. He was falling so hard for long brown hair and pale blue eyes that it almost scared him.
Almost.
He wanted this to be so much more, and yet, he'd never dream of pushing Ren beyond his comfort zone...but so sue him if he had his fantasies. Yet when they held hands, Ren was always so tense, and when they kissed, Ren would find some way to keep Martyn's touches from wandering, and it could never get past this brick wall halting the vines. Vines with all the roses and thorns that Martyn supposed comprised him at this point. When he sees Ren slipping off down a side alley after his boyfriend had claimed he was going to visit family for the evening, his concern drives him into pursuit.
Pursuit to a place he didn't realize he needed to see and a view beneath redstone circuitry lights he never understood he'd been waiting for.
{In which Martyn falls for Ren figuratively and literally, Ren gets several safety lectures, and at least the redstone circuitry brings out the blue in his eyes.}

Summary
Scar liked him?
Scar Scar Scar Scar Scar Scar.
Grian chewed and ripped at the skin on the inside of his lips until his tongue turned bitter as he yanked his shirt off of his head and turned himself to the side.
He hadn't had dinner. He only had a banana for breakfast. Did bananas make you fat? Maybe it was still too much. People- People don't date chubby guys...and if Grian was being honest with himself. Really honest with himself. He liked Scar too.
Grian stared at the flesh of his stomach, narrowing his eyes as he calculated the best course of action. People don't date chubby guys. People don't date pigs. They don't like pigs. He couldn't mess this up like he did with Calvin. Fool me once and all of that.
Expelling a sigh, Grian reached into his pocket for his phone and opened up Google and searched up how long a person could go without food for.
}{}{}{
After a toxic breakup Grian finds himself scared to death of disappointing Scar like he did with his ex. He liked Scar, a lot, more than he ever did his ex so he really really didn't want to mess this up. Scar was kind, funny, and Grian didn't wanna lose that. So he did the only rational thing anyone would do. He stopped eating.

Summary
Another obstacle cleared. He looped back around, brain so focused he didn't notice the wraps around his ankles coming loose, whipping like flags in the wind. He allowed himself height, spreading his wings to the fullest in the open sky, projecting massive shadows onto the ground below.
"Go 'round again!" Came Jimmy from the ground and Grian permitted a single pant before diving to restart his weave, counting the seconds in his head. He would beat his best.
Left. Right. Up. And down. Don't get caught. Don't touch the wood. Slip. Float like a feather but have the strength of a bull. Faster. Faster or they'll catch you, get caught and you're dead.
////
Grian was a soldier, he did as he was told. Trained hard each and every day despite the fatigue. Anything to defeat the cruel evil of the Watchers, but having to kill...to harm...what did that mean for his own sanity? What did that mean for his health? What did that mean for the war that waged mercilessly around him?
What did that mean, when Scar...an enemy soldier...showed him love?Bookmarked by cupiobee
