Kevin leans in close enough to the Millport coach’s grainy, black-and-white television set that he thinks for a moment he can smell the human through the dusty screen. “That one.”

Summary
Neil knows he should burn Wymack's contract and run until his legs can no longer carry him. His daemon, the mouthpiece to his soul, says otherwise. He's ignored her for far too long; it's time to follow his heart, be it to dream or damnation.

Summary
"What if Neil hid his phone where his kidnappers wouldn't find it? What if he called Andrew while on his way to Baltimore? What if Andrew had to listen, heart tearing in two, to Neil's journey into his father's basement?"
Andrew fishes his phone from his pocket, chest emptying itself of air when he sees Neil’s name flash across the display. His hands are shaking as he hits return call, shaking like they haven’t done since he went off his meds, and in many ways the lurch of loss in his gut feels like another kind of withdrawal.
He thinks the call is about to time out, when, suddenly, connection.
“Neil,” says Andrew, and it sounds dangerously close to a prayer.

Summary
At first, it seems like an ordinary photography assignment. A few weeks trekking through the wintry wilderness, enough shots of the local fauna to keep his agent happy, and then onwards once more. However, the strange little tourist lodge in the foothills holds more than Neil bargained for - secrets, thievery, friendship, and an impossible blond bear.

Summary
The sanctum is walled by ruby tiles that scatter the light from the oil lamps across its inhabitants in crimson pinpricks. Jean doesn’t bother to struggle as they lash him to the glistening block at its centre, but his captors grant him no lenience in return, their hands biting bruises into him as they tie him firmly enough that Jean’s fingertips begin to tingle from lack of circulation.
“I’m sure you’ve heard a lot about the bonding,” Riko addresses him for the first time. Jean tries to nod, but the ties holding his head in place are too tight. “Would you like to hear a secret?” Riko bends over him, lips at Jean’s ear. “It hurts even worse than they say.”

“I used to think it would have been easier,” Andrew says. The words cost him more than Neil can know, but Bee says it’s important to get better at these things. If he wants to keep Neil, anyway. “If I looked different.”
There's a lot he leaves out of that sentence.

Summary
Transcription of handwritten letters between anonymous rivals, circa 1800s. Letters were discovered in their original envelopes, which bear a broken wax seal and the stamp of the U.S. postal service. Letters have been ordered chronologically according to postal markings. For speculation on the events and people referenced, see appendix 13.
"Long distance Andreil except it’s the 1800s so their only communication is long handwritten letters sealed with wax stamps"

Summary
Katelyn slides the necklace around his neck carefully, watching as goosebumps spring up in the wake of the silver chain. Aaron stills under the touch, and while she can’t see his expression, she can see the flutter of his eyelashes as he blinks. Her fingers brush the nape of his neck as she fastens the clasp, and his skin is warm like melted butter.
She presses a kiss to the clasp, letting the spell wind through Aaron’s veins until his entire body is held in her grasp.

Summary
The near-empty pill bottle is a constant weight in the pocket of Nathaniel's joggers. He has stretched out the doses as far as he can, his head thumping and his vision blurring with half-formed visions of worlds that aren’t his. Enough to hold back the voices, but still there’s a hum in the silence, like he’s hearing a conversation through thin walls. It isn’t hearing the voices that scares him most, however; it’s the fear that if Nathaniel can hear the others, then they can hear him.
Nathaniel can’t run from the voices in his head any longer. Stay in the shadows or stand with the cluster: it’s hardly a choice at all.

Summary
“You’re awfully nervous for a man with nothing to fear.” Andrew has Neil in one hand, his cigarette in the other. One moment of inattention and either could be sent tumbling over the roof’s edge. Neil’s heart hammers so frantically that he’s sure Andrew must feel it through the hand bunched in his shirt, stuttering nervously like the beating wings of a sparrow. The frailty is an illusion; Neil has yet to meet anything that will stop it powering on, dragging him through the worst the world has to offer him.
“You and I know there’s far more to fear in this world than death.”
Andrew makes a noise several shades too derisive to count as laughter. “And what do you fear?”
Neil thinks of a dark, musty room, and the steady drip of blood on tiles. “Eternity.”

Summary
For most hunters, it would have been a wet dream: his quarry beaten, bleeding, trapped and prone before him. He might as well have been holding a stake on a silver platter. If it had been any other vampire in the world, Andrew wouldn’t have hesitated to drive the splintering chunk of wood through his chest and be done with it.
Unfortunately, Neil wasn’t any other vampire.

Summary
Prompt: "AU where Neil is the Avatar who was born as a firebender."
“Feel this?” Andrew digs two fingers into the dip of Neil’s neck, tapping his pulse-point in time with the roar of Neil’s blood. “I can. I can feel every tremor that passes through the earth. I can feel your every footstep, your every flinch, every tap of your rabbity little heart. I know when I’m being snuck up on, and I know when I’m being lied to. You would be wise to avoid both from here onwards.” The rhythm of Andrew’s tapping speeds up to match pace with Neil’s quickening pulse as Andrew’s words rip the ground from beneath him. Andrew’s lips twitch cruelly at the sight of Neil’s expression. He leans in, shifting his hand to wrap it around Neil’s throat. “Want to hear my theory?” Andrew’s gaze is intent, the pressure of his hand light, but twitching with underlying threat. “You’re a firebender.”

Summary
Kevin’s plan for the last day of summer is bullet-proof: he has a huge wall calendar, a copy of his class schedule, a note of every Exy match and banquet date, a print-out of essay deadlines and exam dates, and enough pens and sticky notes to stock a stationary shop. All he has to do is put it all together.
Unfortunately, he forgot to factor his partners into the equation.

Summary
Nathaniel Wesninski – or Neil Josten, according to the forged papers Andrew procured for him - was more trouble than he was worth.
This was the mantra Andrew repeated to himself as he stalked across his study to where Neil waited for him, slouched on his couch with a false nonchalance that said, I’m sitting like this by choice, and not because I’ve lost too much blood to keep myself upright. He flinched as Andrew approached, but stilled when Andrew seized his chin between his thumb and forefinger, turning Neil’s face from side to side to inspect the damage. It was as though Andrew’s touch melted something stiff and glacial in Neil’s core, and he visibly softened, reassured by Andrew’s protective grip.
Neil showed none of the fear or anger one might expect from someone Andrew had recently pulled, unconscious, from a car full of bullets and corpses.
