Summary
Against Tighnari’s best wishes, Cyno embarks on a mission with Collei in the hopes of being able to cheer up the young trainee forest ranger on her sixteenth birthday. However, what initially started off as an innocent adventure soon turns into a serious tragedy that nearly leaves Collei at death’s door. And, in a fit of rage, this causes Tighnari to make the impulsive decision of permanently cutting all ties with the General Mahamatra, whom he once loved even more than himself. But when Cyno—at his lowest, most vulnerable point—winds up being on the receiving end of a god’s ancient curse while on a suspicious mission, Tighnari knows he cannot just sit by and watch his erstwhile lover succumb to the manipulation of a long-departed god, filling his once-noble heart with evil. And as Cyno’s mental and emotional state deteriorates above all memory, Tighnari wouldn’t be the only one to wonder if the General Mahamatra he formerly knew is already too far gone.

Kacchan froze, chest heaving. The sudden stillness made Izuku’s mouth snap close. He swallowed as Kacchan’s eyes darted around, taking in Izuku and Inko’s full appearance. The nurse finally managed to sit him back in bed but it was as if Kacchan didn’t see her anymore. Unnerved by the silence, Izuku tried to speak again, making sure not to make eye contact.
“Kacchan… I- I know you don’t want to see me but we couldn’t not visit. Your parents-“
“What the hell.“ Kacchan’s voice cracked.
Izuku looked up, wincing at his friend’s (?) intense and confused stare. He didn’t want to be the one to explain. Still… He cleared his throat.
“Your parents. They were hurt real bad-“
“What the hell.”
“Kacchan, I’m sorry-“
“What the hell are you saying – I can’t…”
His eyes were still locked onto Izuku but his hand was near his head, bandaged fingers twitching towards his ear. Both boys’ eyes widened as they realized what was wrong.
“I can’t hear you.”--x--x--x--
Kacchan was in the center of a horrible accident. Izuku wants to be there for him, but he can't do that when Kacchan doesn't tell anyone what's really going on. He's also never been good at accepting help.

He cared because this boy deserved everything good after all that happened to him. Link deserved a family and if nobody else was there for him then Talon would even fight the three Goddesses if needed just to protect him.
