It wasn’t that Jesse didn’t want to sleep, despite what his late nights and early mornings in the SJPD bullpen might have told anyone, it was just that… he couldn’t. The following days and weeks from his stint in the hospital, with his ribs still bruised and aching because Sarah was A LOT stronger than she appeared, the late nights behind the bright LED screens of his station at the St John’s Police Department almost tripled in frequency.
His apartment was small, his bedroom even more so, and every time Jesse pulled himself under the blue covers of his bed and turned his lamp out was when the claustrophobic panic would set in, followed closely by what he could only describe as a sleep paralysis demon. It had been weeks since Kevin Conway had been arrested for murder and attempted murder, but Jesse felt frozen in time.

Basically the plot of the 911 episode "Fight or Flight" but with Deeks as Maddie and Gordon John Brandel as Doug.

He didn’t believe for a second that TK had asked for him, personally. He had seen him, what, two hours ago? The exchange was colder than the weather currently raging outside. Was it some kind of prank? A trap? Was he just looking to fight again? He hadn’t gotten a call from the hospital, meaning TK had thankfully updated his emergency contact from Carlos to…God knows who. He knew Owen had run for the hills, literally.
ICU.
It had been a minute since TK had been in the ICU, to Carlos’s knowledge. What had happened in the last two hours that guaranteed a trip to the ICU? TK wasn’t clumsy, by any means, but the man met his health insurance deductible by mid-February every year.
Hurry, please.
The part that took Carlos back, even more so than finding out TK was in the ICU. The words, spoken by Nancy with a worry to her voice. Maybe this was serious.
Without a second thought, Carlos turned his police cruiser around and set his sights on West Park Memorial.
