Then the facade burned down, and Chance thought Will was a devilish creation made to torment him, to condemn him. But now... now Chance could see the truth. Will Byers was the heaven-sent opportunity to redeem himself, to save himself from all the awful things to come for him. And as to it, Chance would give Will whatever he needed, whatever he wanted. If that was to devote himself to him, if that was to devour him, he'd gladly do it.
Or; ST au where the mind flayer wasn't "defeated" at the end of season 2 and it keeps jumping from host to host. Chance's the new host and he thinks he's possessed by a demon. Will decides to get closer to him just to help him.
