Summary
Following the Great Treachery of Lorgar, the Imperium of Man was left in ruins. The centuries of strife, revolts, and internicene fighting had undone nearly all of the work the emperor had done during the Great Crusade. Hoping to salvage what remained of a crumbling state The Emperor's Remaining loyal sons reorganized the Empire into a Feudal Kingdom.
Now In the 41st Millenium, the Imperium is finally winning its long and brutal war against chaos, but new threats are gathering. The Eldar and the T'au are rapidly expanding, the ancient alliance between Earth and Mars is rapidly fraying, and devouring swarm has appeared from the deepest cosmos.

Summary
The Culture of Ultramar sees the Codex Astartes as more than just a set of Rules for Gulliman's space marines, to them it represents a path to be more like their god. And so, every soldier sent by Ultramar to fight the Imperium is given a modified one for their own use. This modified form of Gulliman's Wisdom is called The Annais-Gaele Codex, and is a compilation of Gulliman's wisdom for soldiers.
