Yunho laughed with no humour in his tone, barely able to swallow the lump in his throat. He was shaking, he was huffing and puffing, he was one more insult away from getting outside of his car to drag Mingi onto the grass and obliterate him, “Don’t make me get out of my fucking car, Song Mingi. I’ll put you in the ER—”
“You will put me in the ER?!” Mingi was hollering with laughter, not amused but degrading, “Oh, how much I’d love to see that happening, Jeong.”
“Okay,” Yunho snapped, pushing his door open, “That’s fucking it, Song—”
“Gentlemen.” Yunho quickly shut up when he heard the feminine voice, freezing. Mingi’s eyes were on the old lady too as his mouth hung open, already halfway out of his car, “It seems like it’s a tense morning for the two of you. You have certainly roused the whole street at this early hour.”
Or, Mingi and Yunho, neighbours sent straight from hell, are slowly running out of options on how to piss off the other. A series of events, however, slowly changes their dynamic into something unexpected, into something that involves less hate and more lust.

Here’s the thing, Mingi loves Yunho. He always will love Yunho. Yunho carries a part of him that he’ll never get back, nor does he want to get it back. That piece belongs to Yunho, a piece he left back in Seoul and long before he came to LA, proof that Mingi once had him and loved him. Loves him.
But in loving, there’s also acceptance and letting go. Mingi has done all three. Time has granted him as much.

Jongho watches Mingi chug down his seventh shot of vodka after twenty minutes in and turns baffled, "Hyung. Did the director chase you with a knife to meet the status quo or something? Why are you drinking so fast? The alcohol isn't running anywhere."
Mingi hiccups, grinning foolishly at him with his finger pointing towards nowhere in particular, "You don't know, Jongho. I just had the shittiest month ever, and I think it's best if I listen to my body and let out some steam."
"Do tell, my brother." Jongho encourages, "What is the greatest downfall of a man?"
"His fucking ex-boyfriend, that's what." Mingi yaps aloud, then slumps over the counter, sobbing pathetically. Then he fixes his composure, leaning over to Jongho's side with his arm awkwardly set on the bar counter, chin on top. "So, I have a friend."
"Uh-huh," Jongho calmly sips on his Manhattan, "a friend."
Eleven years ago, Mingi dumped his ex-boyfriend, Jung Yunho.
Eleven years later, he bumps into his ex-boyfriend again, who boldly states that he still doesn't know the reason for their breakup.

"So, I won." The other captain was way too excited. Childishly excited.
"No shit," he huffed, still fuming over the ridiculously close scores. "Alright, what do you want, champ?"
He didn't know what to expect. This was his rival, after all. Maybe wear something weird at practice? Do something utterly embarrassing in front of the whole school? Basically anything out of the box.
And somehow, it twisted into "I want to kiss you".
