They’d come a very long way just for Grace to give up and die at the last hurdle, both physically and emotionally. The Tau Ceti system was a long, long way away now, and Grace had faced not one but two highly emotional suicide missions. Three, if you counted the time before he was given a military grade roofie and hucked into space without his memories.
Rocky and Grace make it back to Erid! Huzzah!

Rocky, please. I’m trying to spare you right now.
Basically, Grace gets exposed to a dangerous amount of radiation during an EVA and doesn't want to tell Rocky bc of what happened to Rocky's crew <3
THIS IS A REWORKED VERSION OF "TEMPEST" - after some comments, I wanted to keep the soul of the story, but make it more scientifically plausible. While there are still probably some inaccuracies, I still hope this isn't as messy as before.

That's why the good Lord, working in tandem with the devilish, has led Louis to be healed in ice-water; under magnet-bright skies.

The same look, in fact, that he had given Louis when he’d thrown a duffel bag at Armand’s feet and told him he had fifteen minutes to grab his shit and get out. “Lestat doesn’t intend to quit the company. He intends to quit ballet.”
In the grey stupor of London, Louis is preparing the Azalea Gallery's forthcoming exhibition and worrying about Claudia. He doesn't plan to add wrangling Lestat, principal dancer of the Royal Ballet and his kind-of-ex-husband, into the mix – until Armand comes knocking, and makes him an offer he can't refuse.

Summary
She growls in frustration when she can’t get comfortable, shifting again. She can feel the pull of the sun beckoning her to rest, but she’s hyper-aware of every goddamn pebble that keeps finding its way under her hips and elbows, and she has the absurd thought of the Princess and the Pea and the night when she was little when Papa Les helped her stack every mattress in the house in a pile because she wanted to try it out for herself. Her breath catches in her chest when one frustrated turn knocks the stone over her slightly ajar, and she hisses when a stream of sunlight hits her elbow, sizzling it instantly. She swallows around her panic as she slides the rock shut once more, pressing her palms flat against it and trembling faintly with adrenaline, aware of the fact that she almost just killed her fool self pitching a hissy fit.
It’s a long time before she’s steady enough to drop her hands.

Summary
Hedonist that he is, Lestat has never particularly cared to be held to the constraints of a schedule. Louis may enjoy the routine and predictability of something as prosaic as the requirements of managing a business–one of his many little idiosyncrasies that Lestat simultaneously enjoys and is frequently irritated by–but for him? Non. He can enjoy the artistry of a well-planned ball or the satisfaction of a business deal well-struck, but he’s always enjoyed the freedom of not quite knowing what’s coming next. In a long, long life, it’s far too easy to fall into a rut and find oneself constrained to it for decades before noticing.
Even with his taste for surprise, however, Louis holding out a tiny, sooty, sniffling child is a shock he is not best pleased by.
He flicks his eyes up from the big-eyed, dripping moppet, raising a brow and feeling his lip curl slightly in distaste. The child reeks of smoke and fear and God only knows what else.
“Put it back,” he says flatly.

No, what he does is keep looking at Lestat and thinking – not for the first time – that this has been a mistake. Thinks he has stayed too long here in Japan, even if it’s been just shy of two weeks.
