Summary
“Sokka?” Zuko’s voice is quiet and raspy as he shifts just enough that Sokka lifts his head up from Zuko’s shoulder. The confession Sokka had ready to go dies on his lips at Zuko’s expression - at the red he can just barely make out in Zuko’s eyes. “Sokka, I… need to tell you something.”
Sokka swallows and nods silently, not trusting his own admission to not slip out if he dares to open his mouth. Zuko must be confessing the same thing Sokka wants to. Which, admittedly, Sokka hadn’t actually planned for, but it’s fine. He can adapt to this. He just needs to shift a few words around in his brain, and--
“You’re my best friend, you know that right?”
And why does Zuko’s tone make this sound like a break up?
OR
sokka and zuko break up, make up, go undercover, thwart a rebellion, watch the sunrise, and change the course of fire nation history. not necessarily in that order.

Summary
Zelda should have known better than to feign arrogance. She had spent her entire life begging for power - it should have come as no surprise that her words could be so easily twisted by a djinn.
Zelda and Link discover an ancient ruin buried deep in the Gerudo desert, and encounter a creature thought to only exist in stories. But when the djinn offers Zelda her greatest desire and she attempts to bluff her way out of a deal, it backfires in a spectacular way.

“We never discussed ground rules,” Zelda said matter-of-factly. “And we really should have.”
Link didn’t say anything, waiting for her to continue.
“Obviously, no one can know it’s a ruse,” Zelda said. “If anyone finds out, my father will call off his blessing, and both of us will be back to square one.”
Link nodded.
Zelda suddenly felt too warm, and she decided to shuffle over to her desk, which was a good distance from Link, and dig around for a piece of paper and a quill. “It’ll be good for us to write it out,” she said, more for herself than for Link, who sat on the other side of her desk expectantly.
Why did he look like he was waiting to get marching orders? Like he might have been almost eager for it?
She focused on writing out the first rule. “Rule number one, no one can know.” She penned the words carefully. “We have to look genuinely head over heels for each other.”

Summary
The Siren of Eventide Island is a legend that pirates and sailors tell each other. They say she lures sailors to their doom, and that men who follow her voice never come back.
Link’s always been fascinated by the story. He feels the pull towards her island, even though he’s never heard her song. One day he sees her through his spyglass, and the image of her silhouette in the afternoon sun is burned into his brain like a brand.
She pulls him out to sea, and he goes willingly.
.....
He walks forward, taking another step, and then another, until the blade of her knife brushes against the cloth of his shirt.
“Go ahead,” he says, lifting an eyebrow. He watches the graceful lines of her throat contract as she swallows. She looks down at the silver blade in her hands, then meets his gaze again, defiance burning behind her eyes.
“Why did you come here?”
He shrugs one shoulder.
“Curiosity.”
The word is wholly inadequate to describe the force that had drawn him here.
“You would throw your life away so easily?”
“It isn’t worth much.”

“That I did,” Zelda managed to say through shaky exhalation, “but no longer.”

Summary
It’s been years since the Calamity was foretold, and the hero of Hyrule has yet to be discovered.
Instead, Hyrule is faced with the threat of the Lost Bandit, a notorious outlaw who steals wealth from the nobles, only to disseminate it among the poor.
Desperate to find the hero that will protect Hyrule both from the Calamity and from the Lost Bandit, the king arranges a tournament to determine the best of the best, using his own daughter’s hand as bait.

Zelda looks at him. Takes in his knit forehead and the desperation she's never seen in him until now. She swallows, struggling to keep her voice from trembling as she whispers, "They're mine, too, Link."
His heavy gaze dips, and for a moment, the crackle of her fallen torch is all there is. The seconds tick by. Five. Five more precious seconds he's stealing from her.
