She runs at the altar, goes through hell with trauma, learns to love herself, chooses humanity, and chooses Jacob. This is a character-focused and wolfpack-focused fic that leans into the psychological horror potential of Twilight. It is an angsty, agonizing slowburn. The Cullens are not cast in a good light. Dual POV of Bella and Jacob. This is what Breaking Dawn SHOULD HAVE BEEN, to me, anyway. Summary
He leaves the drive-thru and enters the main parking lot. He’s about to leave and drive back home when he spots another car parked in the lot. The lights of the car are off, except for a light inside the car, and Sokka catches a quick glimpse of a guy in a red sweater, drinking a milkshake.
Sokka really does not want to be alone with his thoughts right now, so he decides, on a whim, that he’s gonna try and talk to this guy who also apparently had a breakdown tonight.
“Hi, I’m Sokka,” he introduces. “So, I had a breakdown earlier tonight, and I’ve been informed by the all too caring drive-thru staff that I’m not the only one who’s come through after a breakdown, and I’m guessing that other person is you. So, I was wondering if you wanted to come sit on the curb with me and talk about our problems while we have our sweets.”
Or, Sokka and Zuko keep meeting in a McDonald's parking lot and bond through their mutual breakdowns. Turns out, it's easy to spill your heart to a stranger in the middle of the night and create a bond that lasts even in the daylight.

Summary
Of all the bad things Zuko had ever done, kissing Sokka against a wall in a palace corridor was probably low on the list. Trying repeatedly to capture and kill the Avatar was definitely higher up. But pressing Sokka up against a wall and violating any and all boundaries of personal space was probably fourth or fifth.

Summary
Zuko goes from a struggling art school grad to a successor of a multibillion dollar corporation in one night, but he can't tell a stock from a bitcoin. It doesn't help that the (unfairly good-looking) intern from the office upstairs runs into him at the worst possible moment.
Sokka goes from a happy architect-in-training to a pissed off architect-in-training when some (hot) asshole practically runs him over. It doesn't help that his work goes flying everywhere.
And it definitely doesn't help that it keeps happening.

The Corvette’s tires screeched in protest as Zuko swung the back end of the car around to face their pursuer. He paused there, idling.
“What the fuck are you doing?!” Sokka yelled, gripping the door and the console like his life depended on it.
Zuko took a steadying breath and met Sokka’s eyes. “Do you trust me?”
Sokka said nothing for a long moment, searching Zuko’s eyes. Zuko waited, oddly calm despite the speeding car heading right toward them. This was the only thing that felt like it mattered right now. This moment, right here, with Sokka – in the dark, with their lives on the line, the only thing that mattered was the fact that they were in this together.
“Yes.”
Or -- Zuko and Sokka's first date is stealing a car. It doesn't go as planned.
