Tommy was the only one apart from Phil and Techno who knew, so he should have expected that one day Wilbur would ask for help with preening. Roy remembers his first thought, quite immaturely, being hang on, aren't I supposed to be the youngest State Alchemist?
His second, more sensible thought was less coherent and more a visceral flood of fearsome protection and despair, and the accusatory assessment that this was no place for a child.
