And even if Sakura’s laughter made his teeth ache with the urge to mark him, Suo would back away. He couldn’t even begin to think of hurting Sakura, of trapping him into something he didn’t want. Even in the brief moment that they’d known each other, he’d been charmed by the omega’s selfless bravery. But he’d been trapped the moment Sakura had relaxed around Suo just enough to show the softer side he denied having.

“You’re in love with me, and you made it a research paper.”
“A deeply flawed paper. Still awaiting peer review.”
“I’m going to strangle you with my robe sash.”
Alhaitham stepped forward. Close. Too close. Intolerably, infuriatingly close.
“So you did wear the robe to provoke me.”
Or, love was the variable Alhaitham couldn’t control, and Kaveh was the hypothesis that broke him.

Kaveh shrugged. “I want you to test your own hypothesis.”
Another pause.
Then—
“That would require a subject.”
Kaveh snorted. “Good luck with that.”
Alhaitham hummed.
And then—calm, calculated, infuriating—he lifted his pen, tilted his head, and wrote beneath Kaveh’s challenge:
“You’ll do.”
Or, how Alhaitham accidentally weaponized his thesis as a flirting technique and Kaveh is absolutely not having a good time.

So he does what any well-adjusted scholar in a crisis does.
He starts a research project.
He calls it: Cure Efficacy and Symptom Response in One (1) Overdramatic Architect: A Longitudinal Study.Or, Alhaitham writes a multi-scroll thesis on Kaveh’s fever and forgets to label it “Desperate Longing, Vol. I.”

On the first of January, Kurusu Akira wakes up in Akechi Goro's bed.
In the time they had spent together, he had known the beast that hid behind the Detective Prince's charm, but there was something magnetic about his spite that Akira found electric, so he flirted ever-closer to the storm that was Akechi Goro with eyes open and hand outstretched. Maybe, in the earlier days, he thought that he could endear himself to Akechi and avoid the murder plot, but the more he got to know him, the more impossible it seemed.
Now, things are different. They're in a world after Shido, and Akechi still breathes within Akira's reach.

Akechi had the perfect plan.
He'd been trailing the Thieves through Shido's palace for hours. They were getting tired, but kept pushing on nevertheless - and only needed one more letter of recommendation to open the door to Shido. Akechi would patiently let them do the dirty work for him. He would ambush them on their way back out, to give Joker his promised rematch and take the letters for himself after proving once and for all why he was better than all of them!
At least that had been his plan before the Thieves started to lose their current battle. Against a bunch of random Shadows, and yet they were making quick work of the Thieves. It was somehow not as satisfying to watch as he had imagined.
He watched them being taken down one after the other.
This wasn't good.
The leader of the Shadows raised his weapon to finish Joker off.
God-FUCKING-dammit!
Akechi dropped off his ledge and into the fray.

Goro’s mind turns unbidden to the thought of Akira running his hand through Goro’s hair—a soft, tender motion, filled with passion rather than platonic affection. I wonder if he’s that kind of lover, Goro thinks. Maybe he is. Or maybe he’s the sort of lover who’d grab a fistful of my hair and-
“Calm down, Ryuji, nobody’s getting intimate,” Ann says, already pulling an elastic out of her hair. Get it together, he thinks.
(Or: Akira starts braiding the girls' hair, much to Goro's seething displeasure. Fortunately, Goro just needs to wait his turn.)

Goro thrashes as he's grabbed and brought into Joker's arms, an embrace that feels disturbing and wrong but also sinfully alluring, like an aphrodisiac clouding his brain, delaying cognitive thought.
"Still, you fight it," Joker muses. His slender fingers travel down Goro's sides, settle around his hips and tug him possessively closer. "Well, we'll just have to fix that, won't we?"
