When she’d left the mine, her cracked phone was the first thing she’d checked as she hobbled her way over to the council meeting. Steph’s concerned texts made her heart ache but she didn’t have time to stop and answer them when she was running on pure adrenaline. Some way, somehow, Steph had wormed her way into her heart without any intention of leaving. It was new and inviting -- and, at some point, Alex had even considered it dangerous. Becoming invested in someone who could break your heart was a terrifying thing, especially for someone who felt emotions as deeply as she did.
Steph, though, made it easy not to be scared.
Alex chooses her own happiness. Steph is there every step of the way.

His hand is tugged up, and moved so that it covers Deku’s mouth like a gag. He feels the other boy’s lips move, slowly. Repeating the same words over and over again.
Dread spreads through his chest.
Katsuki copies the movements with his own mouth, exhaling sound around them.
“I...can’t—” Katsuki stops. He is staring, but he knows he is not staring at Deku’s face. Who knows what he's staring at. He doesn’t know either.
“You can’t speak,” he says for Deku, and feels the other boy’s head move in an exaggerated nod.
This, Katsuki thinks, is pretty fucking bad.
Katsuki is blinded. Izuku is muted. Both of them are kidnapped. Things get worse.

Strigoi wants land, wants freedom from the mountains that chain them to their city. Ibra wants to be the shining land, as beautiful as its terrible, enchanting queen.
Tentative peace has lasted as long as Princess Addison has been alive, hanging by a thread...but now a new enemy marches to the north, one strong enough to decimate them both without blinking an eye. Allegiance is their only hope at survival - but with Ibra's council at odds behind closed doors, it falls to Addison to convince the King of Strigoi to join them.
