Summary
“Do you know what she– wants? Most in the world?”
Jon knows what she’s scared of. This is always the first thing the Eye focuses on. She’s never been Marked, but she’d had a family member die young, so The End had the strongest claim. Yet behind all that– the deliciousness of that– Emily Abernathy is an ordinary woman with ordinary desires.
“Um,” Jon says. “A blueberry scone.” They stare at each other. Then Martin’s beaming, laughing.
“Nothing else?” He says, half breathless, and Jon loves him. His cheeks are pink and his eyes are shining behind his glasses. “That’s it? A blueberry– scone?”
“She’s in love with the woman who lives down the lane from her,” Jon adds. This is the Eye’s afterthought. It’s sad, is what it is. There’s so much good in the world it could do. If only that was what it cared for. “Oh! Oh. She’s the one who makes excellent blueberry scones.”
“That,” Martin says, “we can work with.”

“I could kill a soldier in twenty different ways with a few strands of hair,” Andy says, but the menacing factor is toned down by the way she’s splotched with bright neon rainbow.
“But not me,” Nile says.
“You’re too short for one of them to work,” Andy acknowledges, and then: “give me the gun.” Nile gives her a gun, which is promptly fired at her chest. Teal blooms over her vest. “The real gun, Nile. I am not a child.”
“But then you’ll shoot us for real,” says Nicky patiently.
“My love, I think that’s an unfair reality we have to get accustomed to,” Joe says, dropping from a hole in the roof and shooting three paintballs, none of which find their mark.
Or: Andy reprograms thousands of years of combat by beating her found family to a pulp in a game children play. -

Summary
There’s something in the mud, just off the road. Geralt would think it dead, but it’s still breathing, flexing its fingers woefully towards the path. Ciri taps at the too-soft fringe of the thing’s hair, the puff of his frumpy clothing. Geralt deftly moves her back. “Don’t know where it’s been.”
“But look at him,” Ciri commands. “He’s dirty, and probably hungry. Geralt, can’t we help? We have plenty of coin.”
The odd being raises its head. Below the scent of dirt and grime, he smells—delightful. Like—like fields of daisies. Like scented handkerchiefs, and wood well-treated with oil, and the rich, sweet earthiness of leather that hasn’t been splattered with blood a thousand times.
That smell is a danger all its own, Geralt recognizes. And then the terrible thing opens up its mouth.
“Hello, fellow travelers, my name is Jaskier. I seem to be a little lost. I decided to leave the Grand and Sparkling Castle in Andalasia. To go back to my forest friends, and my dear little cottage. Can you help?”
In which Geralt must fight the most terrifying monster of all: an enchanting bard from another dimension. -

“Martin, Martin, Martin,” Annabelle spins out, drawling, “if all you had, every day, was scraps of bread, would you not hunger for more?”
Throwing his arms away, towards the screaming, the abyssal apocalypse, Martin breaks. “I’d hardly call this scraps!”
“Not anymore,” she acknowledges simply. “But my patron had hoped, you see, once our hunger, our thirst was slaked, we could… expand.”

Summary
In a way, it was almost a relief to see that nothing had changed since school. Seasons came and went but Grantaire was still Grantaire: a bundle of too-tight nerves and awkward elbows, scratchy throat, furtive gaze bouncing everywhere it shouldn’t. Still nursing a fascination with the most dangerous-looking female in the area. A puppy dog panting after a wolf.
In 1957, female cartoonist Grantaire meets some interesting new people, joins a secret society, and attracts the notice of a woman named Enjolras. A 1950’s lesbian Amis AU.

Technically Q's name and personal details are classified and beyond the purview of field agents, but he's worked for Q branch for ten years and had gone by his actual name for eight of them. His identity is as much of a "secret" as his ineptitude at filing financial reports.

Summary
Miriam thought the job working for InGen sounded perfect. Tropical island, good pay, first dibs on publications… At least, she thought so until she found out that she was the only behaviorist on staff. Once the eggs hatched, it became all she could do to keep up–with the dinosaurs, the science, and her health.

Summary
The thing is, Helena has no idea what comes after.
The past fifteen years, she’s had a singular goal. She's never given any thought to what she’d do once she killed the men who murdered her family in front of her.
Maybe, Helena realizes, she never actually thought she’d make it this far.
---
In which Helena Bertinelli joins a team, buys a cactus, beats up criminals, goes to church, bakes bread, and falls in love.
(Not necessarily in that order.)
