The man starts to cock the hammer of gun, and Alex squeezes his eyes shut, his lower lip trembling almost imperceptibly.
“Stop!” Henry shouts, his voice cracking. “I’ll give you whatever you want, I’ll do anything…just please, don’t hurt him.”
Alex’s eyes fly open, shooting Henry the same incredulous look that he gave him in the hallway, and Henry knows he’s shown too much of his hand, revealed a part of himself that he’d sworn he would take to his grave, but he’s too full of fear and desperation to feel self-conscious about it now. He can deal with the consequences when they get out of this.
If they get out of this.

And suddenly, this whole thing stops being funny.
First off, it’s…bold to think that he’s Buck’s true love. Especially when he won’t kiss him because of some boils on his face. Mind you, Buck could have thousand more boils on his face and Tommy would still be the uglier one.
Whatever. Eddie breaths. Unclenches his fists. It’s fine. They’re dating. They’re dating and it’s totally, completely, fine.

Summary
The lights flicker before the elevator comes to a stop.
A few times actually.
So maybe they should’ve thought something was wrong before the thing came to a screeching halt.
And it was screeching.
The sound it made when the lights went off and it finally stopped was kind of daunting.
The annoyed groan Eddie lets out along with the thud that lets Buck know he dropped against one of the walls is also disconcerting.
Or maybe just concerning. When that’s followed by the sound of him sliding to the floor along with the emergency lights filling the elevator with a dim reddish light.

Just as Eddie finally finds the courage to ask Buck out on a date, an old friend of Buck's shows up and their relationship is deep. Eddie tries to stay hopeful but with a potential long-lost love standing in the way, he knows he has to do what's best for Buck no matter what. Even if that means letting him go.

He would do anything that Alex asked, give Alex everything he has, and take whatever Alex offered without question.
Part of Henry wants to burst through the barrier separating them, drop to his knees in front of Alex and offer up his bruised and scarred heart. The organ hasn't belonged to Henry since the moment he laid eyes on Alexander Claremont-Diaz, and Henry would give Alex all of the more he could ever want, if given permission.
Alex should know that.
It's Henry's fault that he doesn't.

His mouth stays there, pressed close to Alex’s ear, the only thing louder than the drum of his own heartbeat. “Not when you sober up, and you remember what I’ve said. Not when you think about tonight and everything leading up to it. And certainly,” he pauses, licks his lips. “Not when you’re at home wondering why nobody loved you enough to stay.”
He takes a step back, and Alex blinks the club back into existence, disregarding the people around them and the music and the lights entirely in favor of flipping around to face him, confusion on the tip of his tongue.
Henry smiles wryly, almost guiltily. “Because I did,” He says, raising his voice to be heard over the music and nodding. “I do.”

Henry feels something in his heart splinter; shatter. It’s not like he wasn’t expecting it, but it hurts more somehow, hanging in the air between them, mingling with the scent of sweat and cinnamon-sweet cologne, with the knowledge that he had been this close to heaven before it was ripped out of his hands. He should have known better, really.
Of course Alex isn't gay.
Of course he was just hurting, and confused, and Henry was a warm body, there and pliant and willing. A creature comfort in the most literal sense.
“Don’t worry,” he offers, hoping his smile looks more genuine than it feels, wooden and hollow – even if Alex won’t look at it. “I won’t tell anyone.”
Or: Finding comfort in each others' beds doesn't have to mean anything. Alex is straight, and Henry only does casual. Right?
