Summary
Komaeda and Hinata have been good friends for awhile now, long past petty spats and jealousy induced arguments despite their obvious differences, like how they're in different courses and how, unlike Komaeda, Hinata is actually a likeable person.
Komaeda doesn't know how Hinata puts up with him, but he does, and he spends alot of his time just showing off how much he seems to want Komaeda around. One of these peculiar actions includes gift giving, specifically flowers because Komaeda loves them, and Komaeda has almost become used to this strange behavior when the most important batch of all shows up and changes everything between them.

Summary
At the end of the Neo World Program, Hajime finds himself desperately wishing for the guaranteed safety of his 'class'. He finds himself wishing that the killing game never happened, that somehow, someway, they were all.. safe.
Maybe next time he should be more clear in his wishing.

Or, in other words, Hajime time travels back to before the killing game during the tragedy, and decides to spend his time as 'Izuru' helping the remnants recover from their brainwashing to hopefully persuade the Future Foundation out of ever sending them in that game, or atleast if he can't do that, making sure they don't fuck it up in their own way.

Nagito shifted under the covers. "Do you know René Descartes?"
“I guess.” Hajime furrowed his brows. “Cogito ergo sum.”
“Yes, cogito ergo sum.” Nagito echoed, “It’s a philosophical concept he reached by locking himself up in a room away from all distractions from society. Traditions, customs, obscurantism. His goal was to start from zero. Rebuild his whole philosophy from what he knew to be real. That’s where his first conclusion came from. I think therefore I am.”
“So... you’re changing your philosophy, then? What’s your new take on hope and despair?”
“I don’t know, Hinata-kun...” Nagito smothered himself with his own pillow. “So far, I’ve just been sleeping.”
After the Neo World Program, Nagito Komaeda pretends to be a philosopher by drowning in guilt and painkillers and locking himself up in a room until he figures out how he can make everyone forget about his miserable existence. Unfortunately for him, Hajime Hinata doesn't mind playing philosopher with him and clearly plans on doing something about his state.

this was the first fic i ever read that actually elaborated on the 'komaeda's hate of the reserve course stems entirely from his own jealousy that they get to be normal and he doesnt' plot point well. im OBSESSED with how they did it here,,.. chapter 4 changed my life im so serious
also i just love how they interact here. the conversations are natural but not ooc, as if they were real people. the comedy is done well too. easily a top 3 komahina fic, the popularity is WELL deserved

this is so fire man.. the characterization <3 also the izuru procedures from this fic are canon to me. ive read ALOT of different interpretations about what the hopes peak doctors did to hajime to make izuru and this is BY FAR my favourite
