“I’m not sure we’re all going to fit,” Loki admits, making no move whatsoever to solve that problem which speaks volumes.
“Magic up a better tablecloth, then.”
“Um. Excuse me, it’s not a tablecloth? We’ve been through this.”
“Sure feels like one,” Mobius says, prodding the flimsy material as he shuffles to get comfortable between them. “Is this what blankets are like on Asgard? Not particularly cosy.”
Sylvie likes Mobius more now he’s on her side in this too.
“That’s what I said.”
Turning to Sylvie, Mobius gestures with as much discretion as possible.
“Part of the charm, right? I like it.”
Oh my god. This is happening, then.
“I gathered," Sylvie snarks. "You’re not subtle.”
There are only so many moments to blunder through. Mobius and Loki take them all.

“That was rude," Loki snaps, cradling the discarded script. "You don’t see me slinging your jet ski magazine around.”
“I don’t have to be there to know you constantly terrorise Miss Minutes with it.”
Mobius should steer them back towards the work. But reading that script just washed him up on a whole new shore. That whole scene sounded like a confession - of feelings.
"And to be clear, you did not-"
Pursing his lips, Mobius pretends to ignore the fluttering of his pulse. He can't even say it. Try again.
"You did not capture my heart. Or anyone's." Nice save. "The only thing you've successfully captured in your play is how much of a massive megalomanic you are."
Fortunately, Loki fixates on all the wrong things.
"Hang on a minute, you didn't even read it in its entirety. Why Mobius, you missed the best part! The coronation, the trumpets, the-"
"Shut-up," Mobius manages, barely.
Mobius just has to know if Loki knows what he thinks he knows about the thing he isn't supposed to know. The thing concerning big L-O-V-E.

Mustering his meanest look, Casey cocks his head upwards. He thinks of the gut-you-like-a-fish expression, channels that as best he can.
“Just - you both keep out of my head from now on. And-” Pause. He sucks in a sharp breath. “Get out of my life!”
Loki blinks. Perpetual confusion plagues his face.
“I beg your pardon, don't you think that's rather dramatic?”
That's it. The catalyst. Composure faltering, Casey sighs.
“No. Not really! I kind of hate you guys right now. You - you don’t know the things I’ve seen, the things I've just been through. Solving mysteries, creepy clocks, spooky old mansions and chandeliers and - and you two being like this all the time! Everywhere. And oh yeah, the really cool lady."
“Casey," Loki clips sharply. "What madness are you wittering on about? I’m afraid we're not following.”
Ugh. Jeez. They're so annoying in and out of dreams. His head hurts.
Casey really wants to wake up now. This is horrible.

Loki almost feels the rivulets of blood dripping from his own fingers. Covering his own hands. It might as well be the case.

“Hey, that's great!! I'm so glad to hear how you think there's nothing to worry about, as if you're not part of the problem!" Mobius snaps back, earning a classic Loki scowl for his troubles. "Okay, look. For all I know, we'll be gliding along having a good time and then out of nowhere you’ll just push me off and-”
Mobius grabs the salt shaker and lands it on his finger. Great. Now he’s doing it too.
“Drive right over me. Like that.”
Loki hums in consideration.
"See, I wouldn't do it exactly like that because it lacks finesse."
There's always been something in the water. It doesn't surface until they're riding out the waves.

That rattles something fierce within Loki. The fear climbs up into his throat, squeezing tight until he is roaring and raging and ravaged.
He is Loki. He is a God. He alone is burdened with glorious purpose.
"I will not bow to whatever fanciful illusions you have of me!"
"Oh, illusions." Mobius steps forwards. It doesn't change the distance. "Yeah, yeah. Okay. Let's hone in on that for a sec cos clearly you're still stuck in one. You said you didn't enjoy hurting people, I heard you say that and I know you weren’t lying. But I'm beginning to wonder if there's a part of you that just doesn't care because guess what - you did hurt people today."
Loki sucks in a breath, unsure why it lands so heavy in his lungs.
"Me included."
Poetic, how their fall begins when Mobius had become an achingly familiar presence.

Steeling himself, Mobius takes a breath. What comes out of his mouth next is beyond absurd.
“Okay, so here it is." Pause. "I’ve known him longer than you.”
That is hardly the mic drop moment Mobius seems to think it is. It's just plain embarrassing. Sylvie glances over to Loki.
“Seriously?” She asks. "Is he actually being serious?”
Loki gives no answer. He seems to think if he just stands there and says nothing it makes him invisible.
"Anything else, Morbius?"
"It's Mobius, actually.”
Sylvie shrugs. She feigns picking out dirt beneath her nails.
“Potayto potahto.”
How’s that for a roast.
“You know what," Mobius starts, invigorated. "Now that you mention it, yeah. Yeah - this little potato here has plenty more left in him to mash. Guess what, you’re not the only one taking promenades with Loki through apocalypses.”
Sylvie cannot carry the entire fate of the sacred timeline on her shoulders along with whatever the Hel these two have going on. And yet.
