Nico ignored the question, sitting up and checking his food to make sure it was alright —and it was— before turning his eyes to a boy that seemed to be around Percy’s age, blonde and grey-eyed.
“You’re just a kid.” He let out. It wasn’t a question —why would it be? He was just 11—, and it made Nico grimace. He didn’t want to live, but at least if he lived wrong enough he would stop being a child at some point. Before he could get back at the other, who clearly wasn’t much of an adult yet, he spoke again. “Are you lost?” Nico nodded, regretting it right after. “Do you need help? Maybe I can help you find your parents.”
“They’re dead.” He deadpanned, watching in silence as how the blonde’s expression changed.
“Are you alone? I am waiting for two friends, they could help you out if you…”
“I am waiting for someone as well.” He cut him off.
“Do you wanna… Wait together?”

He can't bear the thought of seeing it any different than it was now.

The Machine reset its position on its knees and replaced its hands on the weapon of a fallen era. I can’t stop you from making useless promises, can I?
Somehow, without doing anything, the Machine had gained a visitor and protector.
