"Anthony!" Dodie snaps, catching Rocky and the newcomer off guard. Frank hides a smirk behind his hand, pretends he's covering a yawn. Dodie levels one of her ring-laden fingers at Rocky and flexes it with intention. "You're late!"
Rocky is raising his hands in surrender when the unfamiliar man straightens his back, tightens his grip around his cane, and says, "My apologies, Mrs. Esposito, but Anthony and I got a bit turned around."

Todd, the genius that he is, stood frozen over his friend, who was just gaining consciousness. A small groan, just enough to be a whimper, came from somewhere under the cover. But Todd didn’t move.
Neil was sick. That much was clear. Todd imagined it was because of the cooling weather mixed with Neil’s stubbornness to keep his jacket open outside. It was only inevitable. It didn't matter how many times Todd or any of their other friends showed their concern for the boy. Neil usually grinned and turned his head.

Todd Anderson always knew he was... different than his brother, Jeffrey. Jeffrey didn’t stutter or struggle to look people in the eye, and Todd sure as hell didn’t plan on being class valedictorian or a national merit scholar. But the difference between the brothers, the one that made his skin itch and head buzz, didn’t hit him until he was dropped off at Welton- Todd’s parents didn’t hug him.
Todd has an emotional night and needs someone to comfort him. Neil is more than happy to oblige and give him the affection he longs for.
