Summary
People weren’t supposed to want to be around the Great Transgressor, and Vicious wasn’t supposed to want them around. He thought he'd been doing a pretty good job of holding his companions at an arm's length. But when Aegis recognized him as his childhood friend, it became increasingly difficult to deny the feelings he wasn’t supposed to want.
Aegis remembered who Vicious used to be, but there was still so much of him that he hadn’t reconciled with, so many feelings left to grow wild that had yet to be carefully checked. So much that he didn’t yet understand about the child he had befriended, and the man they called the Great Transgressor, no matter how much he wanted to.
And when it rains, it pours.

Felix stared down at the name scrawled along the bottom of the hardcover in front of him: Sylvain Jose Gautier.
It wasn’t just the coincidence of the main character’s name anymore. Felix was halfway through the novel and well past that first sticking point. And it was far beyond the surface level quirks and character preferences that Ashe had initially pointed out: the love of meat and spicy food, the swords, the fondness for cats, the acerbic attitude (which Felix had to admit, begrudgingly, was accurate).
No, this was personal… and intimate. Laid out on pages in front of Felix. It felt (and Felix flushed just thinking it): loving. For every twist and turn of Hugo’s story, the author, this Gautier guy, wrapped him in prose that felt equal parts honest and adoring. Somehow.

This Felix likes the same foods Sylvain knows the old Felix liked—dishes filled with spices and meats just like the meals of their childhood, hearty and perfect for staving off the cold during long, harsh winter nights. This Felix is just as prickly and blunt as the old Felix, qualities that most people would find off-putting but only ever caused Sylvain’s infatuation to grow stronger. This Felix has has the same wry smile when he’s amused, the same wrinkle etched into his forehead when he’s concentrating, the same messy bun and slender fingers and soothing voice that sends the butterflies in Sylvain’s stomach into a veritable frenzy.
But this Felix doesn’t remember Sylvain.
And it absolutely guts him.
Or: Finally, miraculously, Sylvain finds the love of his life once more. There's only one problem—Felix has no idea who he is.
