Slowly, he became aware of his own body again. He blinked open his eyes. Sandy-brown furred paws where hands should be. He flexed them experimentally, watching in utter bewilderment, as the muscles obeyed.
The scent of stone and earth filled his nose more acutely than before. Everything was louder, clearer, sharper.
Still reeling, Remus gathered his four new legs beneath him and stood up shakily.
A bark pulled him from his stupor.
Sirius sat a few feet away, head tilted, watching him carefully. Gauging. Clearly trying to puzzle out who was in control of Remus’ mind tonight.OR
It’s Remus’ first time trying the Wolfsbane potion. With Sirius by his side, he discovers the night can hold comfort, warmth, and love instead of fear.

There was no response for what felt like an hour—a judgmental hour. Eventually, Remus lifted his head and was highly displeased to find Lily pressing her lips together in delight.
“So, he… He did that, and now the— the wolf sees Sirius as your m…”
Remus gave her a warning glare.
“… Mate? I’m sorry! I couldn’t think of another word!” Lily exclaimed, trying and failing to hold in a giggle. Remus groaned and collapsed onto the floor. She outright laughed, then, the high, infectious kind. “Sorry! I’m sorry, I won’t repeat it.”

Remus was quiet for the longest minute of Sirius’ life. Eventually, after a few tears had fallen from both of their eyes, Remus seemed to find himself in the same predicament Sirius was in, and he nodded. “Okay. I won’t tell.”
“Promise?”
“I promise,” Remus whispered. Sirius relaxed his grip on Remus’ wrists, but Remus didn’t pull away.
"How... how do I know you won’t tell?” Sirius asked, hating how pathetic his voice sounded.

Their bubbling discontent had been directly correlated with the fact that, after years of quiet office research and paper pushing with Hermione, Remus wanted to be back in the field. Restless and haunted, frustrated with the molasses crawl of government initiatives, Remus had wanted to do more. Wanted to prove he still could.
Sirius, quietly content with their happy little life, wanted him to do significantly less.

Remus smiles, then blurts: “And lastly, well, I really want to shag Sirius, for obvious reasons.”
Everyone freezes.
