“That looks broken,” Bucky says, with a nod at the stranger's face.
“I’m fine,” the man glowers.
Bucky can't help but smile at his surliness. “Whatever you say, lone ranger.”
It takes another moment, but eventually, the cracks a tiny smile of his own. He wipes his hand on his faded jeans and holds it out to Bucky. “Steve,” he says.
Ignoring the residual blood, Bucky takes the proffered hand, which is big and warm. “Nice to meet ya, Steve,” he offers with a crooked grin. “Name’s Barnes. James Barnes. But of course, everyone calls me Bucky.”

Summary
Fast and fierce, the Horse Guard protect the Kingdom and its people, and they welcome anyone into their ranks-noble, commoner, or peasant-so long as they can ride a horse like they were born to it. Guard Barnes—Bucky—has come to the Kingdom's largest horse fair to find a new horse. He's supposed to choose from one of the approved horses; instead he finds himself buying a tall, skinny, angry stallion with the ridiculous name of Steve. Bucky can't leave him behind, but he's nothing like what Bucky's looking for and everything Bucky doesn't want.
But Bucky's more right than even he knows because Steve's not a horse at all. He's a man under a curse, victim of a powerful sorcerer's temper and magic, and he's bound to never, by action or deed, reveal what he truly is.
It's gonna be one hell of a ride.

“Do you remember what you asked me about, that night? What you were curious about trying?”
“Oh,” James said. His eyes widened a bit, then he gave a nervous smile. “Yes.”
“Are you still curious about it?”
She could tell he took the question seriously, but he only had to think a moment or two. “Yes,” he said solemnly. “I want to try. With you.”
She gave him a satisfied smile.
“Then look in that drawer over there.”
His gaze followed where she was pointing, then he looked back at her hesitantly. As he gave her foot one last squeeze, curiosity began to spread across his face. He got up to investigate.
She enjoyed her view of him crossing the room. His back muscles shifted as he opened the drawer, and there was a subtle lift of his torso as he drew in a sharp breath.
She had gotten him three silicone dildos of varying sizes. All were fire engine red.
“Pick out which one you want to try,” she commanded.
