After finally escaping the Axiom Starliner, humanity begins life anew on Earth. The reconstruction efforts are a long way from making their home truly habitable again. But with Captain McCrea, Yun McCrea and leading development efforts, Operation Recolonize is underway.
Being that Earth is still very much in need of repair, most of the former passengers continue living aboard the starliner, where a familiar enemy turned ally continues to operate from the shadows. Has he turned over a new leaf, or is he simply biding his time to seize control once more?

This would be your 5th reassignment since graduating from the Academy. Your superiors were very, very clear when they told you that this was your last chance to prove yourself as an officer of the First Order, and that if you were dismissed from this position, you would be dismissed permanently. That could not happen, it just couldn’t, because you didn’t have anywhere left to go if you were removed from the Order.
You had to find your place in the Order or face expulsion. Your new assignment was to transfer to the Finalizer to serve as General Hux's assistant. You could only pray to whatever God(s) exist in the universe that this would be the right place for you.

You two worked closely together, which had been just about killing him. These feelings, these stupid stupid thoughts, would nestle in his brain every time he let his guard down. What if he just brushed your hands together, working late one night on the bridge? What would it be like to kiss you? What would it feel like to have your nails down his-- he stopped himself. That was completely inappropriate.

The two of you were so desperate, it seemed, that you took to asking Stratt to use what authority she had to reach out into a COI monitored program and apply for the type of help they offered. She was understandably reluctant, and the pool to choose from was as shallow as it gets, but the options were there. All you and Ryland had to do was pick one.
Simon was several years away from meeting his death row sentence. He knew that the rest of his life would consist of iron, concrete, monitored showers, and rations in the form of chalky cubes, and that was okay. His past lingered within him, still, despite his best efforts to ignore it. Who knew it would literally be his saving grace(s)?

“What Grace want for birthday,” Rocky repeats himself, tone more insistent this time.
“Y’know,” Grace says, deciding an unrealistic idea is better than no idea at all, “I think I want a hug from my best friend. If you can figure that one out, you’ll never have to get me another birthday gift again.”
“Rocky will continue to get Grace gifts anyway.” Grace flushes at the declaration, which he does not want to address. Rocky is quiet for a moment after, tapping his claws on the ground in thought. And before Grace can tell him he was just joking, don’t worry about it, just make him some xenonite barbells so he doesn’t lose these muscles so fast, Rocky is perking up and skittering to leave the room again. “Rocky know how to get Grace gift! Will take some time. Late gift. Will make up for it next Earth year.”
(Or, the one where Rocky's birthday present to Grace ends up getting a little out of hand.)
