Luna manages to hitch a ride almost the whole way from Insomnia to Hammerhead and takes the opportunity to refuel not only the car which bought her here but herself too.
“What’re you doing out here?” Cindy asks.
“Just passing through,” Luna says.
Lestallum next, just to check on things. Then she’ll be off again, to try and make contact with an Astral ahead of her dear friend.
“That’s a shame,” Cindy says, “Never seen you before and you’re already a sight for sore eyes.”
Something particular about Cindy’s smile makes her blush, a hot flush all the way from her hairline to the tips of her toes.Alternatively: Luna’s just passing through but that doesn’t mean she won’t find something that makes her wish she could stay.

The air smelled like blood and metal and rot, the stench powerful enough to work its way through the filters of the expedition team's respirators, but the stink was not as bad as the sound, a near sub-audible vibration that lay behind the walls and nestled in the vents and wires. That vibration worked its way under the skin of the expedition team and shattered the resolve of half of them like a jackhammer against concrete. They peeled off the main group and made for the exit a mile above where the rear guard waited in the frozen dark, subsisting on a newly claimed cache of six-year-old coffee and spite. The remaining three continued on, with the sound of their boots echoing off the walls.
Ignis searches for a way to save his king's life and is drawn to the long-sealed Magitek Research Facility A019. He explores its secret depths and finds a stranger who promises him everything. Meanwhile, an unscheduled train arrives in Insomnia bringing a group of otherworldly travelers to the haunted, sleepless city.
(This should still be readable if you are only familiar with one of the two source works.)

He paused then with a crooked little smile settled on his face as he gave his audience a moment to come to attention and let the atmosphere of the evening settle in as a guest. Crickets chirped, bland music drifted to them from a nearby shop, the loose end of a tarp fluttered in the breeze, and Ardyn told them a story.
On their journey to the Disk of Cauthess, five men stop to rest and, bound in each other's company, talk a little. Ardyn is a strange man with a fondness for old stories, poems, songs, and rhymes. With a little prompting, he shares a story about a Beast and a Soldier whose good intentions are corrupted by power.

Prompto is supposed to attend the ceremony Ignis organized for the anniversary. For the Dawn. Noct’s official funeral, technically, since only the three of them had been there the first time around, and Noctis didn’t belong to just him, or them, anymore. Prompto promised he’d be there just before sunrise as long as he didn’t have to say anything, promised he’d stand up with Ignis and Gladio and try to honor Noctis the way he deserved. Actually pay attention to the sunrise with them this time, instead of burying his face in blood-soaked clothes and crying like the world’s ending instead of starting over.
But some asshole, dozens of them, all around Insomnia, starts lighting fireworks. Bright bursts of sound and color, all through the night before, reminders that everyone on this planet is happy that Noct is dead and Prompto’s only got two options left: explode or run.
So he runs.

Ignis steps into the space Noct’s cut-off silence leaves behind. He offers what hope he can. “Gladio found another candidate. I interviewed him this evening.”
“You did?” The uncertainty in Noct’s expression carves a slice out of Ignis’s heart.
“I’ll be offering him the position in the morning.”
“Do you think he’s the one?”
