Sighing a little at the intrusion, despite it still being opening hours, Bradley took up position behind the counter and pasted on his best customer service smile.

At the Naval Academy, that meant being the fastest 200 meter freestyle swimmer they’d ever seen, meant being Valedictorian of his class and graduating with an aerospace engineering degree. At the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, it meant getting the top scores, it meant being sent to Top Gun. In the Navy, it meant being the only current generation Navy pilot to have a confirmed air combat kill since Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.

Not only does he have to deal with the unresolved issues with Maverick now the Captain is going to be the one training them, but he's also been assigned to live with the one person who seemingly lives to infuriate him; Hangman.He'll be lucky if he even makes it to fly in the mission in the first place.
(Or, my alternate take on the events of Top Gun: Maverick if Rooster was made to live with Hangman).

He can always tell when Rooster is about to rock someone's shit and when Phoenix is struggling but is too stubborn to ask for someone's help. He doesn't do it on purpose, but he can always tell when something is just slightly off with his fellow pilots.

“So... I wanted to ask you something. Bradshaw's birthday is still on June 27th like every year, right?” Hangman spat out, his jade green eyes turned sideways towards a window that had spectacular sunlight streaming in – they were still in California, baby.
Natasha allowed herself a single second of celebration before going back to being an usual bitch.
“I don't think Bradley plans to be born on another day anymore... how come this very specific question out of nowhere, Hangman? What do you want?”
Seresin knew perfectly well when Bradley's birthday was, that man had a prodigious memory - he remembered everything, always and in any case.
Natasha hated how perfect Hangman was sometimes.
“Our little Roo will be forty this year,” Hangman began, his voice thin but confident and cloaked in his Texas accent very strongly. “It's a very important celebration. Since you guys are so busy with your wedding preparations, I don't think you two would be in the right headspace to handle this party too.”

“And since my flight got rerouted I have to stay at a hotel nearby. It’s supposed to be a nice one at least.” Jake sounds a bit on the annoyed side considering he’s going to be stuck at a hotel for his entire leave, and Bradley can’t say he blames him.
The idea of Jake having to live out of a hotel doesn’t sit right with Bradley. It sounds just as boring and lonely as it’s been for him alone in his house. He’d hate for his friend to go through that for two weeks.
The perfect solution suddenly dawns on him. At least, it’s perfect logically, but in reality, it’s probably a terrible idea. Oh well. He’s got to jump off the perch sometime, right?
“What if you come stay with me?”

Jake laughs that off, a playful grin on his face. “Oh, I’ll be shocked if you’re anything other than a stubborn ass, but that’s one of your best qualities.”
Bradley rolls his eyes, trying and failing to stifle his smile. Jake always seems to know exactly what to say. “Ha-ha,” he deadpans. “But, Jake, I really don’t know how I’ll ever be able to thank you enough.”
The other man shrugs as if that’s the absolute least of his worries. “I’m not doing this to be repaid, I’m doing it because I care about you,” Jake says, his words hanging in the air for a moment. “So what do you say? Sound like a plan?”
“Yeah,” he says, his tone grateful. “Yeah, it does.”
Or: Bradley sustains several broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder from the mission, and Jake refuses to sit by and watch Bradley handle the recovery all on his own. Pining ensues.

But Jake looked absolutely horrified by what he had just said.
His chiseled jaw dropped open and Bradley was momentarily afraid it would dislocate from his face and start rolling across the Hard Deck floor.
Penny wouldn't like this, he strongly suspected.
Bradley couldn't even pinpoint why, since he had fully achieved his goal, but he didn't like the fact that he was the one who had distorted Jake’s features like that.
“What do you mean you've never watched Star Wars?!” Jake almost shouted, suddenly approaching Bradley in one fluid move and making his heart leap into his throat.
[Bradley never watched Star Wars, so Jake offers to guide him. They can't imagine what they are gonna gain from a nine movies marathon]

After a break-up, Natasha "Phoenix" Trace came to a startling conclusion: That she and Jake "Hangman" Seresin could be the best of friends. They're pretty similar after all, especially in terms of bad relationship history, and maybe on being oblivious when someone's loving you from afar.

Bradley has already met Jake's whole family, so it only feels fair for him to take Jake to San Diego to do the same. Jake is already nervous about meeting the famous Iceman and Maverick, so it really doesn't calm his nerves to hear that he's about to meet some of Bradley's friends and extended family as well. It also turns out Bradley's been hiding something from him, and that his dart skills become more important than he ever thought they would.
