Summary
Stede stalks over to the shelf just left of the fireplace, and strokes a finger along the leatherbound spines until he finds the one he’s looking for. With a flourish, he pulls the title from the bookshelf and turns to face Edward as the shelf swings out from the wall—only to reveal a second, smaller bookshelf behind it.
Ed’s face is not flushed with awe, as Stede had expected. Instead, an indecipherable expression overtakes his features. If Stede didn’t know better, he might call it fond.
“What’s a secret bookshelf got to do with fucking?”
Ed discovers Stede’s collection of ye olde bodice rippers.

It's several months after season 2, and politics are shifting rapidly in the New Republic.
“One of the delegation’s sticking points in the treaty has been a desire to share risk between the New Republic and Mandalore. They don’t want to sign without an assurance. Apparently it’s traditional to do this... somewhat literally. I don’t get the sense that it’s universally desired, but,” she shrugs a little, “we’re all floundering here. Rebuilding a republic out of a dictatorship isn’t easy.”
“I’m not getting the problem here, Leia. So they want it all in writing?”
She lays it out for him, and Luke can’t say he didn’t ask for it. “They want someone from the New Republic to become the new Mand’alor’s consort. Essentially, they want a hostage.”Luke wants the New Republic to back and fund his plans for the new Jedi Order, Bo-Katan wants Mandalore to rise to its previous glory, Leia wants a system of governance that is functional, and Din wants a nap.
(Or, the arranged marriage fic I had no intention of writing.)

You try your damnedest to burn it out, but Luke’s face sticks in your head. Lingers like a whiff of ozone, and no matter how hard you try to forget it when you close your eyes behind the visor of your helmet, there’s the haunting outline of his lips mapped out in your head like a constellation. His mouth. His eyes. His single bare hand, ever so gently cupped around Grogu’s body like he knew how important it was to you that he be touched like he was precious.
And it must have worked, because you let Grogu go with him. Maybe that’s why you can’t stop thinking about that moment—how it felt to hold unwavering and long sustained eye contact with a man for perhaps the first time in the whole of your lonely life.
