15. . .20 . . . 30 minutes. Dream still isn’t here. Sapnap looks at George, trying to hide his worry. "Maybe he got lost?" he says lamely. George shakes his head, dread continuing to pool in the pit of his stomach.
They all jump violently as the phone rings, shrill and harsh. George snatches it up, only to see the number is hidden. It is not Dream calling. He feels sick with apprehension as he answers the call.
"Hello, George speaking."
The voice that comes over the phone sounds gruff but calm and in control. "You are - GeorgeNotFound?" he asks.
George’s heart drops at his tone. "Y-yes." He falters.
There is a pause, then the person on the other end takes a deep breath.
"There's been an accident. . ." -

There it is. Techno asked him the same question every day, worded differently, but always the same. It’s his way of asking if Dream’s okay, a silent message that he understands but knows that Dream will push him away if he asks if he’s okay. Dream understands the undertones of the question. I know you’re hurting, let me help.
And like always, he answers the same way.
“Maybe tomorrow.”

They're digging their bony fingers into every crack he can find, pouring salt on every cut and scrape it knows the monster has. "Terrified I'm gonna leave you in the dust just like everyone else. Dream didn’t even know how to process it. The team had celebrated, Quackity had celebrated, even the school had celebrated. The win would be bringing their team to nationals for the first time in the history of the debate team.
He remembered feeling proud. The team had gone to their local fast food place after the tournament, riding on the high of going to nationals.
He had felt happy.
In fact, he had felt so happy that he messaged his parents about his win.
Sure, maybe they didn’t care much about him, but they did care about their reputation. Hearing that their son’s debate pair brought the team to nationals for the first time-surely they would be proud of that, right?
They still hadn’t messaged him back.

He knew that sooner or later he would lose his sanity and go berserk of everybody that had the displeasure of being on his land. At first he could hold himself just fine despite the nightmares that plagued him at night, but soon, people like Tommy and Quackity ate away his remaining self-control with their mocking and taunting.
Stupid, unreasonable selfish people like Wilbur and Tommy who were willing to sacrifice a nation for just a pair of discs. People like them were the reason he lost it all a couple of decades ago. The screams of Bob and Jack were an oddly satisfying memory.
Heaven help the fool who falls in love...
