Mike thinks it all started the day the Byers moved into their house.
Having sold their house in Hawkins a year and a half prior and moved to California, when they came back, and the town got put in lockdown, they didn’t have a place to go.
Mike had kindly offered up their place during dinner.

The 18-month gap between s4 and s5 told from Mike's POV with minor other POV's as the story progresses. The gap has been lengthened to encapsulate more time passing. They start at 16, but by chapter 6 they're 17 1/2 with them turning 18 chapter 32/34.

Summary
Mike pants incessantly, embarrassingly out of breath from the run here. He pulls Will by the wrist onto the balcony, seemingly unnoticed by the rest of their friends who are counting down the seconds until the new year. The December chill is biting, almost painful, but he doesn't care. He can't take any more of this.
"I've been doing a lot of thinking, and the thing is, I love you."
Will's eyes widen. "What?"
"I love you," Mike repeats, like it's obvious.
Will's facial expression runs through every emotion before settling on frustrated. "How do you expect me to respond to that?"
"How about, you love me too?" Mike responds, hopelessly.

“Are you blushing, Wheeler? I was merely suggesting you remind your best friend why he should pick up the phone for once.” He smirks, reveling in the full-blown gay panic flooding Mike’s system.
He’s looking at Mike in that knowing way – the one that unnerves him, that dropkicks Mike’s stomach somewhere past the cosmos.
Whenever Will comes up, Eddie gets this devious glimmer in his eye, and it always leaves Mike feeling so exposed – like he‘s been caught.
Mike doesn’t know how, because he’s extremely good at hiding his feelings – obviously – but Eddie Munson looks at him like he sees right through him. Like somehow, he knows the selfish desires brimming in his heart for Will.
He lifts his jaw from the floor, and shakes his head to rid the panic.
“Right, yeah–of course,” He scoffs, “Best friends.”
Fuck.
Eddie’s smirk unravels into a chuckle, and he rolls his eyes.
“What else would I have meant, Wheeler?” He challenges, unable to resist the urge.
OrA Season 5 fix-it fic set a month after Season 4, as Mike returns home from Spring Break. A love letter to grief, coming out, and to the queer coming of age.

Kit’s on a mission with his family to lift a curse in the Blackthorn Hall, but is taken by surprise when Ty suddenly appears in the kitchen with his twin sister’s ghost. Since their last interaction ended with him getting his heart broken, he intends to avoid them at any cost. It becomes really hard when Livvy mysteriously disappears, and Ty comes to Kit for help.
Turns out that avoiding your own unresolved feelings towards your old crush isn’t as simple as it sounds. Kit learns this the hard way.
