Summary
Initially, your ghost may still be dressed in the well-ironed suit from the day of their burial, with a few specks of dirt here and there. You might have imagined him dressed like this in a different setting. A dance or a wedding. You placing his hand in someone else's, giving him away. Giving him away, you say, as if he were ever yours. Still, you would have liked to do your part, telling the story about the flower crowns, smiling in all the right places. He, soft-eyed in the crowd, hair parted to the side. Looking every bit like someone's handsome, loving son.
In the end, when you gave him away, he still looked as handsome. Perhaps it is a good thing that best man speeches can be made into eulogies with only a few edits.
(Or: There is a ghost at Ivan's doorstep, and it has a familiar face.)

The Devil at Your Doorstep
★★★★
The film wants the audience to be well-acquainted with Baek-ssi's gentle nature. In one shot, taken off the railing of the cruise, Baek-ssi is shown staring intensely at the sea. The camera zooms in so far on his eyelashes, I can only imagine the purpose is to make the viewers count them. I got to seventy-six before the camera rudely panned out. I think the film should give poor, slow bastards like us a second chance.
This review has been partially censored because it might contain spoilers.

Summary
In the locker room after practice, the boys jostle each other, slinging their sweaty jerseys over their bare backs.
They laugh, discussing the obscene ways the body can twist and turn. How to suck a hickey along the column on another’s throat. How to cup a breast with the right amount of pressure. How to kiss between the thighs. But no one, no one talks about how to best pluck an eyelash from underneath the bruised eye of a boy one has revolved around their whole life. How to catch and bear the heaviness of a wish never made.
(Or: After a rough encounter with Urak, Till calls Ivan over. They sit together in the water and let it carry them through.)

Summary
“Okay,” Ivan repeats, finally raising his fingers to the back of his neck. He gives a few pitiful scratches, then shrugs. “I admit that I was a little… affected. But now the matter has been resolved. You were right. For once. Congratulations”
This time, Till can’t keep his laugh in. “What is that?” He shakes his head. Ivan can be so strange. Till’s heart is growing a little estranged from the rest of his body, too. It keeps tumbling in his chest for no reason. He must be overheating from all this back-and-forth. “That’s not going to do anything. Turn around. I’ll get it for you.”
Ivan’s hand drops away from his neck. The pen falls onto the grass. “What?”

Summary
Not for the first time, Ivan wondered why he could feel pain, yet so little of other emotion. It hurt when he picked at this wound, it hurt when he came across Till beaten and bound, and it hurt when he saw Till’s shy smile that only appeared when Mizi praised him. But it was a pain he couldn’t get enough of.
Well, he’d always known he was twisted.
Ivan obsesses over the mark Till left on him.

Summary
His father is aghast at the new rasp in his voice. At his first evaluation after he’s released from the surgical suite, they rear up so viciously at the sound that for a moment, he expects to be struck. It's a novel thought — that's just not their style. Associations from the worst parts of his life, all knotted together. He must have been reassembled wrong. The rotten parts are still there, only jumbled beyond recognition.
Or: this is not a story about a phoenix.

Summary
One day Sua looked at Mizi, pink hair getting in her eyes as she giggled about something she’d just said, and realized that losing her would be more devastating than getting shattered to never be put whole again.
There’s no meaning to her existence, no reason for her to keep on living if Mizi is no longer there with her. What use is a doll without an owner? If nobody is there to marvel at its beauty, at the fine way she was sculpted, what is it if not a dust-covered ornament?
Sua has always been prone to breaking.

"You want to be my ashtray so badly?” he asks, voice low and almost mocking.
Wordlessly, Ivan nods with vigor.
Till hums. “Ivan, open your mouth.”

(Till is frozen, too afraid to speak up, too afraid to find out what more Ivan could ask and how much Till would be actually willing to give him.)
more pathetic freak4freakness from my favorite otr and angstmaxxer.. it’s a fun read with a lot of underlying emotions to it, some of the best romantic tension i’ve read

Summary
Oils and creams aren’t affordable this far from the aliens, so they make do with thin, transparent gel that smells faintly like rice and drips slippery in small bright lines. When it pricks over his skin and he reacts, Till murmurs a harsh apology. His palm cuts the exclamation mark-shaped puddle at the top of Ivan’s spine, spreads it across the cords of his shoulders and up his neck, thumbs pressing hesitantly with a force that can’t be effective.

Summary
Leeches. That's what the people in the slums called those who came to sit by their fires without offering bread or potatoes in return. A creature that attached itself to another creature for sustenance.
Ivan, following Till around during playtime. Sliding down the hill right after him, skipping the queue of children waiting for their turn. Sticking to his side after they landed at the bottom. Asking him all sorts of questions: Loser? What does that word mean? Why did you laugh at what Eri said during dinner? Was it funny? How did you draw the lines so straight? How did you color the sky without getting any blue in the clouds? Bit by bit, filling his own hollow frame with parts of Till, so he could pass as another human.
(Or: Insects come in many shapes and forms. All equally pitiable, but extremely difficult to kill. Ivan's love for Till is such a constant, changing thing).

Summary
It’s going to start raining soon. The rain here is just short of poison. Acid, Isaac says, not something our skin is designed to endure. None of this place is designed for humans to endure. Something about the acid rain making his flesh turn pink with exertion makes Till feel violently alive.
He’s always been especially good at enduring.
Seven years on from the Alien Stage disaster, Luka is back on stage, Mizi is missing and Till has finally found his place in the world.
Then, a dead man appears on a broadcast.

Summary
It should be stated again, just for the record of Till's quickly burning down with rage and also sleep-addled mind, that Ivan is a fucking dick and a terrible friend. Till hates Ivan. Till is also going, due to horrible and unjust circumstances, to let Ivan into his bed. Because he's a bastard.
Ivan knocks at Till's door in the middle of the night. Till shouldn't have opened the door because Ivan is an asshole.

Summary
“Though I have a rule,” then Till abruptly says, brusquely interrupting his dreams of a spring wedding and three kids that look exactly like his sunbae running around a house in the woods, "I don't pierce virgins.”
Ivan opens his mouth. Closes it.
Opens it again, but before he can blurt out that he'd gladly lose his hardly fought for (by his management) virginity for him, Till seems to realize how his words came out.“I mean!” he rushes in to explain, ears quickly turning red. So cute. Here it is again, that urge to bite chunks of his skin off.
“Piercing virginity. Like. Of being pierced. God. You know what I mean-” he groans.Or, how Ivan first walked on set with a puppy crush and a dream and ended up getting a piercing and a maybe sorta kinda boyfriend along the way.

Summary
Till hates the way Ivan looks at him.
For a boy so ridiculously expressionless towards other people, there’s something unnerving about the glint in his eyes when he lays down facing him and smiles. It makes his skin crawl, and Till thinks the boy wouldn’t be so friendless if only his fleeting warmth escaped these moments, with them alone together in the grass. Something akin to intimacy hangs heavy in the air. Till does not recognise it; so he chooses to ignore it. He turns away towards the sky.

Ivan’s body weight is pinning him to the hospital bed.
“Isn’t it so romantic,” the offender croons, batting his eyelashes like a blushing school-girl,
“That you were the last thing I saw, before I died?”
Parasites take haste and burrow deep into their host’s flesh. Parasites consume all that is good and all that is warm – but only what is necessary – so as to keep their host half-alive.

Summary
As Till closes his eyes, the oncoming darkness almost feels comforting. This way, he can only sense Ivan’s presence by touch. The soft pressure of fingertips. The occasional drag of skin against skin. A slow exhale against his cheeks. Like this, Ivan feels much gentler than he is in real life. It’s different from the moments they sit side-by-side after their scuffles. This quietness doesn’t have to come at the cost of violence.
(Or: Like clockwork, Ivan and Till find themselves in the same position over and over. Till gets hurt, and Ivan is somehow there to take care of him).

Summary
Till lets in heavy gulpfuls of air, like he’s struggling to breathe, his palms wrapped over his throat. Ivan feels something stir, and he hates the implication. He doesn’t want to think about it. But maybe that’s why he was cursed to roam here. Maybe he was forced to.
Ah.
Maybe Till was forced to.
There is a presence looming around Till. Ivan doesn't know what to make of it. It doesn't matter.

Summary
If Ivan cannot believe in Till the way people once believed in gods, then his faith must be similar to a dog’s. Like a lowly creature with nowhere else to go, he believes in Till’s capacity to be falteringly human.
Till, he imagines saying. I never really told you about the flowers, did I?
(Or: On the last day of classes, Ivan writes thirteen drafts of his graduation note to Till. Each is a little more dishonest than the one before)
