It’s ironic, he thinks, how bright his father burns. How his presence commands an entire room. How much of his life is occupied by him. Endeavor’s fire burns through them all, in flames, in anger, in the hurt they bring. He’s the reason Touya died, the reason his mother is locked up in a hospital and the reason Natsuo and Fuyumi could never have a proper family.
Shouto’s imagined his own undoing so many times. He often wonders, as Endeavor’s creation, if he’ll go up in flames, a spectacle for all to see, or if he’ll fizzle out in silence until there’s nothing left but ash. A masterpiece falling from grace. Sometimes he even wonders if one day he’ll burn himself up like Touya had. He imagines Endeavor’s reaction, as he once again conceals a dead Todoroki and continues to live without guilt for the children he destroyed.
In the end, his unravelling begins with a single drop of blood.
Alternatively: after moving into the dorms and finally learning how to relax, the years of abuse Shouto suffered at the hands of Endeavor finally start to catch up to him and he finds himself not knowing how to handle it.

The public and press were buzzing with excitement and curiosity at the news that Todoroki Shouto, the son of the #2 Hero Endeavor, would be joining the incoming freshman class at U.A. that year.
His homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shouta, however, had seen far too many like him - the privileged kids of famous heroes - egos monumental and undeserved. And Endeavor being boastful, ill-tempered and ruthless at best, made him almost sure that his kid would be most problematic of problem children.
His classmates, while mostly concerned with the start of their own Hero journey, had heard the news. Endeavor was a household name, so of course they’re eager to meet his son.
But once they did meet Todoroki Shouto, he didn't exactly fit into the shape any of them anticipated. In some ways he did - he’s cold and distant, perfect and untouchable. But in others he completely defies any and all expectations.

This Shouto fic will follow the teachers and students of class 1-A as they get to know him, and he them. As a clearer picture of his past and current home life begins to form, every one of them grows increasingly concerned for the Shouto that they’ve come to know and love.

But, something else is there, too. Something boiling. Something akin to question, akin to suspicion, akin to circumstance. Skepticism licks at the corners of Aizawa’s dry lips, the fingers on top of his arms twitch with a beholden urge. An inquiry is in the cards for Shouto.

Perhaps in another universe Shoto's life could have been better. Unfortunately, he's stuck with a violent father who has high expectations for him and will not take 'no' as an answer.
If Shoto was okay like he tells his friends every time they ask, he wouldn't be up at midnight thinking about things he can't have. He wouldn't have trouble keeping his food down more and more times a week. He wouldn't be thinking about how little his life would matter if he wasn't there.
If life was fair then Shoto wouldn't feel the growing desire to start all over from birth.
But life isn't fair.
Sue him if he wants to find an escape from his daily hell. Who can blame him if he selfishly decides to escape to fluffy animals and pets that he can shed his stress to.
After all, Endeavor doesn't have to find out about where Shoto goes nearly every night at midnight.
Between school, family, new friends, and a new job, Shoto has a lot to juggle. Fortunately, that's okay to Shoto. He's used to juggling a lot, after all.

Shouto Todoroki's life revolves around one little thing, the only thing that keeps him from seeing those horrible memories and images, keeping him from staying up all night with panic attacks and nightmares and haunted by those images that flash through his mind, controlling his life- a little white pill.
Shouto Todoroki is addicted to drugs, much to his dismissal. He is addicted to that buzz he gets, that constant gratification that keeps him from feeling those horrible things and feeling anything at all. Slowly, he declined without realizing it, and the only people who did were his friends and coworkers.
After an altercation at a bar, Bakugou picks him up and manages to get the truth out of him- Shouto is an addict, and he needs help.
