Summary
It's been six years since Jiang Cheng mysteriously disappeared from the map, leaving behind only a few letters and his spiritual weapon, Zidian. It's also been a few years since Lan Huan has been alone in the Hanshi, slowly rotting away, living millennia of pain in mere days that pass agonizingly. When he asks to leave Cloud Recess, his uncle sees no reason to keep him there—Lan Huan was already very much like his father, sunk in grief and sadness, unable to continue in his position. Lan Huan decides to make one last trip, one last attempt to heal what is slowly eating away at his life. He just didn't expect to accidentally find an abandoned temple, nor did Jiang Cheng inside it.

Summary
Now that Wei Ying was getting married, Jiang Cheng once again found himself in the role of being the older brother and also the ceremonialist, arranging the details of their wedding with a sometimes grumpy Lan Qiren. In one of the meetings, Lan Qiren is unable to attend for health reasons and his eldest nephew takes over. The problem is that Lan Xichen and Jiang Cheng find themselves in a series of disagreements that end up leaving one with a terrible impression of the other, and this situation only gets worse every time they meet.
Or, alternatively, two protective older brothers clash, have disagreements and eventually come to truly understand one another.
