"What do we got?" Robby stepped forward as the paramedics pushed the patient into trauma three. Santos was already at his shoulder, pulling on gloves, while Whittaker hurried in behind them with a tablet.
“Sixteen-year-old female,” one of the paramedics reported. “Name’s Nicolette Rosetti. Collapsed immediately after performing. Blood pressure ninety over fifty, pulse one-thirty. Has been in and out of consciousness.”
The girl looked impossibly small on the stretcher.
Her dark hair was twisted into a ballet bun that had mostly fallen apart, and faint stage makeup was smeared under her eyes. Glitter clung to her cheekbones. Her eyes were closed, but her expression was far from peaceful.

Robby’s gaze roamed across Dennis's face, tracing the planes and sharp angles of his features like he was trying to commit them to memory. He already had a long time ago. The horrible, aching knot in his chest dedicated to Dennis was a piece of Robby that he tried, time and time again, to rip out. Always to no avail.

Summary
On September 5th 2025, every worker in PTMC has their limits tested. From aggressive patients, cases that don’t quite sit right and a mass casualty event, staff are forced to ask themselves if they’re truly cut out for this.
Add a woman with a futile sense of optimism and a belief in the world to end up alright working alongside one who has seen firsthand the world’s inability to do that exact thing, you’d get a sure recipe for disaster. Working in healthcare is about trust, something the two of them can’t seem to find even ground on if they tried.
Nell had faith in the Lord to snip the string of tension between them eventually. This was all surely just a test on her restraint, and in due time Cassie would get exactly what she deserved.
Cassie was sure Nell would get the reality check she so desperately needed soon enough. Something to humble that all intrusive ego she harboured and kick her onto her ass hard enough to knock a little sense into her before either of them lost control completely.
They knew it well. What goes around, comes around.
